Old reply, but I've been looking up Kanuga. That place looks awesome, would you say that it's a full day ride or could I plan more into that day?

Also, I've found no videos that mention the climb being daunting or tiresome, how long of a climb is it and how tough would you say it is?

I'd almost wish for an electric bike for this trip since it's so many good places and not a lot of time.

Yea, Moab will do that! I wouldn't stress about feeling like a noob for mechanical issues on Porcupine; that happens to the best of us. What grinds my gears more is when people ride those trails without enough food and water. We've had to provide provisions, emergency medical attention, and call S&R for a number of folks who were bonking pretty hard. It's pretty frustrating when it's just due to simply being unprepared.

Tubeless is a huge improvement in a lot of ways. Better contact patch, lower pressures possible, fewer repairs needed, lighter, etc.

Great, now I’m eyeing tires and I don’t really ‘need’ new tires.

You’ll most likely be like me, and be very stoked with the upgrade. I thought my specialized tires were great, but they were just ok.

Possibly. No complaints with the current setup, and it still has probably 65-75% tread. Thinking more in line with stocking up.

    What are you current tires?

I got mine before 100% needing them so that the specialized tires could be spares still.

It’s a pretty bang up duo for my area. I’ve got some Bontrager somethingerothers with 40-50% tread filling backup duties.

    Amazon special?
    Interested in your initial impressions.

Yep! The bike hand one off Amazon.

Bikehand Bike Repair Stand (Max 55 lbs) - Home Portable Bicycle Mechanics Workstand - for Mountain Bikes and Road Bikes Maintenance https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D9B7OKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_aRq7FbNWQ342D

initial impressions are good. Packs up decently small, feels stout and a good sturdy weight. Everything clamps with a quick release type latch (the legs, the height, the clamp). I dig it. Will be using it tomorrow while I replace my brake pads and I’ll see how it does with the bike on it.

Ended up picking up the Giro Tyrant. Fits well, kinda like the extra ear protection and it really doesn’t feel like it weighs much more. I’ll give it a better review after this weekend.

    Looks good!

The stars and stripes headbadge is pretty original.
