As a proof of concept, I tried out some 1" pipe insulation. Other than it falling apart, it work perfectly!

Any ideas what I can cover the PVC pipe with that is soft-ish but durable enough for some biting abuse? The dogs aren't sitting there biting it. It's more of just grabbing it and pulling on it for a few seconds.

I'd be careful if you can't train the dog not to bite the truck.... My concern is not the truck but the dog....

It took a bit but my dog just chases them now and I still feel concerned he could get a paw tangled up.... No one shares the horror stories of this going wrong and the vet bill....

You are completely right. It's the same with snowboarding with dogs. I'm not running the truck at 40mph around them. They seem just as happy when it's only going 5mph anyway. This is the primary reason I put the pipe around it.

Cut a pool noodle in half and use gorilla tape to secure it to your frame...

Spray the pipe with underarm deodorant.

The dog will bite it once and then won't bite it again.

We had a dog that was a notorious chewer.

Sprayed things with the chew stopper that you get in the pet store and it didn't work.

I tried some deodorant that I had lying around and that worked great.

After he learned the smell he wouldn't touch anything that smelled like the deodorant.

Had him for years after that so it apparently wasn't toxic.

Just use the pipe and spray it with Bitter Apple. Should be at any pet store, Amazon etc. Or just spray the truck with the bitter apple.

Sorry for the confusion, I want him to bite it. He has fun with it. That's why I put the PVC pipe on there. I'm just looking for something more durable than pipe insulation.

I like the gorilla tape idea better, I think the jeans would get slobbery. I've never used gorilla tape. How does it compare to duct tape?

Can you just use the bare PVC? If not use duct tape maybe?

I'd use 1" PVC without a covering. Use PVC glue to assemble. Be prepared to have the RC truck destroyed.

Any foam or soft covering will not survive dog bites. Pipe insul foam or pool noodles are not durable in this situation.

I'd steer clear of gorilla tape or duct tape. It will eventually shred and the dog could ingest pieces.

A dog's bite is stronger than most realize. My mini-schnauzer has no trouble crushing raw chicken thigh and leg bones. I'm sure your dog has a stronger bite.

School bus seat material. You ever see a school bus seat that ripped? Neither have I...

Go to your local school district bus barn. They probably have a pile of old school bus seats. Charge them a disposal fee to carry a few away.

And I'm just thinkin' outside the box here, but...couldn't you just:

    1. Put them on a chain?
    2. Put them inside?
    3. Leave them at home?

I used to have protection dogs and I used rolled burlap as a bite tool to encourage deep bites. For the young dogs, it held up well and didn’t harm the dogs teeth. When it got shredded it was time to replace. The older dogs got too strong but by then it was time for a bite sleeve/suit. Fun time for sure.

I have seen torn school bus seat (well cut more likely)

I'm thinking what they use to make the attack dog training protection suits
Or the thick rope for a tug/chew toy, run a stiff rod(s) in the center to keep its form

You should buy a drone to use. Your dog will be pissed every time it jumps and misses it.

Oh, I have a few. I don't let him near the larger ones because it would likely take off his head. I have a few fpv tiny woops that I use in the house. Since my dog can reach the ceiling, I really can't hide from him. He catches them but surprisingly has never really done much damage.

I am confused. Is your intent for the dogs to chase it but not bite it? But since they do bite it you are trying to prevent them from doing damage or holding on to it?
