anyone on here work on a drilling rig or work in the oilfeild?

We’re going 100% remote for Chevron now. Should be on 0082 for P245 right now. We’ll have DD and MWD for 82 as backup but then it’s all on us after that.

 

I’ve worked for HOS for the past 7+ years. I’m considering on selling the house and going full time overlanding as a kind of sabbatical for a year or so.

 

Sounds fun. But where would you wrench on it? Nice ride.

 

I have a good buddy I do most of my work at his house, He's got a good size garage. I live deep in the country and my gravel driveway isn't really a prime location to work on the truck. I also have some friends who live out west, one in Arizona and another in Cali... I'm sure if need be, I could reach out to a local TW member and someone would not only let me use their driveway but help me with whatever i needed.

Where does the ship normally call port? GoM or East Coast?

Lol. I know that place all too well. If you haven’t had a Fourchon Burger I will suggest getting one. The truckstop on the corner of the road that ERA is on the right and C Port to the left. Once upon a time you could drive up and down the beach but they stopped that. Where you stay when not at sea?

Which way do you go home? You hit i59 or further east?

I usually go the way that Waze brings me, up through Atl but sometimes I prefer to go up through 59/ up through Tenn. you avoid all the traffic and Tenn is awesome.

 

I basically did that for my first few years of sailing out of school. I was doing 90 day rotations, so 90 on/90 off. I had my truck all loaded up and parked in a storage unit. I'd fly into town, spend a couple days returning to the real world, then get a lift to the storage unit. I'd reconnect the battery, fire it up and then hit the road til about a week before I was due back. I'd put the truck back in storage, disconnect the battery and hang out with a friend for a couple days til my flight back to the ship. I did that for about three years before I found where I wanted to live. I wouldn't do it different if I had to do it again.

Have you ever considered working in the geotech / environmental drilling field?
Lots of options, traditional HSA, sonic drilling, geoprobe etc...

 

Land is making a mild comeback the last 4-5 weeks or so. Get your boots oiled up and get ready.

 

WTX-NM is wide open at the moment. I’m back out there and we have close to 7 rigs getting ready to go to work. ETX, STX, PA, and OK are picking up as well.
