    Hey Folks –

Earlier this year I had to part ways with my baby (00' reg cab, 2.7L 5spd 4x4 w/ 67k miles) due to a knee injury. Was fortunate enough to find an 01' reg cab, 2.7L automatic 4x4 w/ 58k legit miles.

    TL/DR
Despite the fact that I find the auto version to be soft AF compared to a manual, :) it drives great except for this one thing – there is this little bonk that I can feel sometimes when it shifts from first to neutral, and less often shifting from neutral to first. All other shifts are great. It happens when:

    1) When stopping on a flat surface more abruptly (e.g. city driving) I can feel the little bonk.
    2) Coming to a stop at the bottom of a hill (never fails to bonk when disengaging and engaging).
    3) ECT mode tends to make the bonks more frequent and intense, so I leave it off.

On flat surfaces – which I'm on most of the time – I'm able to limit the bonks to a minimum so long as I don't stop abruptly – imagine braking softly and rolling up to the stop. I had a transmission fluid change about 500 miles ago and that somewhat decreased the bonks/intensity of the bonks.

I've heard buying a solenoid kit might help but hoping for some advice before doing that or bring it in – as one transmission mechanic who's owned a couple A340Fs recently told me that this is just how they are and not to worry.

    Thanks!

    No problem dude .
Dont purchase any solenoids until you get some lube in your universal joints and some fresh grease in your slip yoke .
I understand the truck has low mileage , but what do the rear springs look like from sitting all those years ? Are the springs all sagged out ?

Any grease is better than none but that's some expensive stuff. I just use a tube of marine grease in my grease gun. You have a grease gun for getting on the zerks?

Nah but I've gotta buddy with one. I'll update the thread whenever I get around to greasing it up!

Update – I haven't done any greasing, but I removed that camper shell and it helped reduce the bonk from the flat leaf springs. Thinkin hard on the . Will update with pics after the install. Gotta sort out some engine noises first.
