Given my 1st gen is a falling apart shitbox, I decided it was time to build a more comfortable adventure rig, so I picked up a '13 MGM TRDOR AC from @klavender1 over Labor Day weekend and drove it back home across the country.

Goal for this build is to have a capable but comfortable traveling/adventure/camping/fishing/MTB setup.

Huge shout out to @w.adventures for his help making the purchase happen.

First mod was some Voodoo bed rails and swapping the GFC over from my 1st gen.

Awesome scenery! I'm glad she went to a good home and you are getting much more out of her than I did!

Lots of sound deadening installed. Butyl and closed cell foam on the roof, added some foam to the butyl that was already on the back panel, and butyl plus Second Skin mlv/foam on the floor. Sounds like the doors are already deadened, but I'll give them a once over when I have a chance. Also installed my Ham and CB radios under the drivers seat.

Nothing like drilling a big, irreversible hole in the roof.

He's owned a few of the others and wanted to wait 4 months to get them so why not?!

Mainly so I could get the DSC.

I was seriously considering Elka, but the smaller shaft diameter on them is kinda lame.

Wouldn't it be 4 months no matter which color I went with?

You will have a pretty good sample size to compare to now, so there's that.

Sound deadening on the doors looked sufficient, so I moved on to fabbing a bike mount for the bed to make use of space as efficiently as possible.

Is there vapor barrier under the MLV over the big hole in the door? Doing my rear doors now and get mixed opinions on whether just the MLV is fine without the vapor barrier

    They looked pretty solid. :notsure:

I was just happy to see the JBL components. I assumed they were takeoffs from a factory JBL truck.

That's all foil covered butyl, I only used MLV on the floor.

Didn't look like the vapor barrier was still there. I threw it out on my 1st gen too and it's been fine for a couple years.

Refreshed a set of LCAs @Night Eagle gave me. This project was a pain in dick. In hind sight I should've just bought some dirt kings, but they're ready to go with new bushings, zerks, ball joints, and dual shear limit strap tabs.

Had to buy two sets of whitelines due to me being an idiot and messing one up, a new press sleeve kit (new tools are a good investment at least) plus new oem ball joints and a decent amount of time spent cleaning these up and welding up a few areas.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
A well used pair of stock LCAs get a refresh and some more beating but probably not as harsh. You can't even see the good hits anymore.
