I've been told that the rattling noise can possibly be remedied by cleaning out the condenser, which you can try before replacement. Anyone ever done it? Is there a guide here on TW or elsewhere on how to do it? I haven't had any luck finding anything.

    Thanks in advance

Edit: Sorry, I meant blower motor, the one behind the glove box.

Short answer- Yes it might help.

You can pull the blower motor out and inspect it.

    Longer Answer-

If enough debris accumulate on top of the filter they can fall down inside the blower motor.
You’d be surprised at the things that get in. I’ve had whole leaves and pieces of acorns in mine.

What happens is, when you remove the filter, it pushed the larger stuff off the top of the filter.

Mine used to make a “ticking” sound.
I never did figure out why, or how to fix it.
It did it for 3 years. Then one day it stopped.
Every once in awhile it will come back, then go away.

I can’t hear it unless the radio is off.
My radio is almost always on. So I haven’t worried about it too much.

Nice, I was figuring something like that since my truck lives under an oak tree for the past year or so and my filter was pretty filled with sticks and leaves when I changed it a couple months ago. I'll pull out the blower and give it a look before I order a new one. Thanks.

might want to put a screen over the intake under the cowl to keep the bigger pieces out
