Eh is what it is hopefully my future suspension stuff won't be too terribly delayed by waiting. I've got other things that I can do while waiting and occupy my time so it doesn't feel as long of a wait.

Got my current tires unmounted for $40 OTD. I tried using a hi lift yesterday, wasn’t happening. Current tires, 70 lbs each. Blurple wheel, 28 lbs each. I had a whole lot of dirt packed in the outer beads.

Whipped this up in about 40 minutes to hold the beadlocks while I wrestle on the tires. This should be a nice improvement over resting it on an upside down bucket.

These beadlocks are proving to be quite the worthy opponent. I removed the ring on one of them and attempted to dismount on my own. I made zero progress aside from removing the ring. Went to a tire place and asked them to dismount but they couldn’t without risk of damaging. I have a few more tricks I’ll try tomorrow and then head to a place that specializes in custom wheels. If that doesn’t work, there’s an overpriced off-road shop that may be able to do it.

On the plus side, my little stand works fantastically.

Ok, beadlock status update for those following along at home. Gonna fuck around more with the hi lift tomorrow to get the rear bead broken. Now that I have a better understanding of the design I think I can manage this alone.

So a tire shop couldn't break the back bead without damaging the wheel??? Don't think they wanted to and made up an excuse it's the same process beadlock or not. I love newbs that see something they've never done before and run for the hills. Good for you for getting it yourself.

They were worried about fucking up the wheel since they hadn’t messed with one and I don’t blame them at almost $700 per wheel. I’d rather them be overly cautious than overly confident but I agree, they should have had no problems.

It's nothing different you did the hard part by taking the bead lock ring off. There are pads on the machine to keep from messing up the face and it's just a matter of using the shovel to break the back bead loose. Clamp from the outside back lip and take off just like a normal wheel.

Is the center of you stand hollow where you can drop a piece of tube or solid round stock down the center? If it is I can walk you through dismounting with 2 decent length pry bars that's easier usually than what most youtube videos show.

It’s not unfortunately. I finally repurposed my old swingout. Cut off the mounting plate, slipped in some tube and welded it solid.

Ah gotcha well you can pop them out without it'll be easier off the stand and you'll want to do it from the backside of the wheel and tire. I'd put some old towels or blankets down to catch the wheel.

WHO’S YOUR DADDY YOU FUCKING TIRE.

20 minutes of painstaking hi lift action, working my way around the rear bead to break it free. Then all of 5 min to remove the tire and put my hankook on.
