When I was in the service I was issued the M14 which became my favorite...as the years went by I realized that AR style carbines afforded more versatility. Below (as a defense weapon) is my favorite. Yes it's a lefty.

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
AKS 74 U... What to say. Not super accurate over 150m, but legendary reliability here. Except start "spitting" (overheated barrel, approx 120 rounds
fast). Small, easy to shoot from vehicle e.t.c. So called "Ksiuha" also.

    Old school? FUCK YEAH!!!

That 1956 Marlin 39A at the top is IMHO one of the top 5 22 rifles ever made.

I love me some old school AK's too.

Bought the Polytech spiker this past Sunday. It's in flawless never been fired condition. Hated the thought of shooting it, and I traded my Romanian under folder towards it...had no AK to shoot.

Bought a super clean Maadi to use as my shooting AK this past Wednesday.

Those Knights Armament are a shit ton of money for an AR platform!

Favorite one I'd love to own would be a long list, but it would be select fire.

Something H&K comes to mind first, or an M60, M16, or full auto AK.

And yet the AR and AK designs are over 60 and over 70 years old respectively. They ARE old school

favorite rifle? Tough, depends on the intention of use. My practical is a m14 ( M1A Springfield) just because that was I used decades ago and a .30 cal is a man killer by design. My competition favorite is a black powder Sharps in 45-90. My collector favorite is a Winchester 1886 which is wonderful design. As a hunting piece a Savage 99- what balance! As a collector piece.. my father passed down a 30-40 Krag Carbine. - smooth action !
