I think we stay up too late for her, she’s an old lady trapped in a puppy body. 8:30 she’s putting herself to bed. Lol

Nice! Our schedule is wacked out. Up and out the door at 7 am, then again at 1 pm, then finally somewhere after 9:30 pm. She's sleeping right now on her bed in the room with me, and dreaming of chasing squirrels LOL

What's all our dog owners take on these raised dog feeding stations? Raised or on the floor? I hear mixed reviews. Phoenix uses the on the floor basic SS bowl. It's a flat bottom. She's not a gulper and takes her time to eat. However, she gets the hiccups frequently. I feel like she would benefit from something a little off the floor, maybe about 4" - 8" (she's only 18" at the shoulder), and something tilted a little and a bowl that more round on the bottom than flat.

    We had one of these

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DMHOZO...&pd_rd_r=da592653-2cdc-402b-98e0-a5b99985899a

But had to send it back because the bowls sat higher than the holes they sat in, and the rims were not flush. As a result, she would literally lift the food bowl out very carefully and place it on the floor to eat. So what ever I get, the top rim of the bowl needs to either be flush or better yet, recessed.

    Like this.

I've also been looking at this (but I've seen it cheaper elsewhere) because I like the included tray and the egg shape of the bowls is really nice.

I have our dogs dishes on a raised wire rack. Mainly cuse I feel she’s getting old and this might be helping her out.

She only eats dry food and we’ve never had an issue with ants.

Phoenix came to us a "grazer" eating Purina Dog Chow. Nothing special and it seemed to be ok. She also was given Milkbone medium biscuits. I bought some beef and pork flavored training reward soft chews. Then I bought some Blue Buffalo flavored biscuits.

We stopped the grazing, and switched to two times a day because we knew once we went back to work she would need to be on a more regimented schedule. It was fine but it just seemed like the food was not as appealing to her anymore. So I tried adding peanut butter to the bottom of the bowl and then mixing in milkbones broken up, and the other biscuits broken up. So she picked that out and left the kibble. Oh, by the way, I tasted one of the Blue Buffalo biscuits. Not a whole one, just a taste. Not bad.

For the longest time she loved the rewards, and they helped her learn what we wanted her to do, but now she's not so interested and just does those things. I suppose that's how it's suppose to work. LOL

After her first vet visit the doc recommended some better for her foods so we switched, slowly to Purina One. She has no problem finishing the 1.5 cups I give her, twice a day. She still picks through and will try to leave the drier kibble part, and it reminds me of a kid with peas. She spreads them out on the bottom of the bowl. If I shake them into a pile along the edge she will finish. This is why I want a more conical shaped bowl. In hopes it stays more in a pile.

The vet said she was about 4 lbs overweight. I laughed but took it to heart. She weighs like 47.6 lbs and the vet said she should be under 45 lbs.

She is not a messy eater but we do put her dog feeding station near the back french door, so I will have to keep and eye out for ants. Deb has been vacuuming the area every other day but I thing a dust buster would be a good investment too.

Sounds like you know what you’re doing! Ginger is a grazer and it’s be ok for her. She is a very clean eater and it fits her breed as well. She eats the blue Buffalo food. We swapped to that last year after the other food she was used to was becoming more difficult to get and we could get the blue delivered.
During training ginger loved the liver treats that pets smart sold and cooked chicken.
