1.5625 or 25/16 is the OD of the hose by the way. I just measured.

Hey @Boozng you may want to grab some 41mm ones and pray they'll fit over. Lol.

What you CAN do is put some silicone paste on top of the hose or spray the hose ends after they are installed with silicone spray and that may help the clamps slide into their respective areas a little easier. Sometimes I found the slicker the surface area the easier it is getting on clamps and such things.

Getting them off is another story once it's a tight fit and things have dried up.

Hang on. I just remeasured. 1.625 or 41.275mm.

@Boozng sorry about that, it's still darker out where I am and the black hose is messing with the light.

Looks like thats about 40mm. The 36mm to 40mm seems legit. But, thats cutting it close. Next size up goes up to 85mm. Hmm...might have to rethink this one.

That's why constant tension clamps are the way to go. They cover more spread to account for imperfections in hose sizes and are readily available from Toyota or similar sources.

They should, but then you still run into the issue of potential uneven distribution of pressure across the surface of the clamp similar to worm drive style clamps. I've owned a few of these clamps and they are nice, but I'm not sure about their clamping style properties unlike their spring loaded style ones which I know work the way they are designed to distribute the pressure nice and even.

Remember, those clamps are designed to seal up air, not liquid. At least they aren't proven to do so.

You're right. Probably shouldn't overthink this and stick with what works.

So, if your engine is trending over 220 do you want your fan running at 100% or ? I think you're very focused on providing a drawn out curve of power progression, that you'd handicap the high side cooling capacity. Don't think this is overthinking it. Keep in mind that the fan only runs as hard as it needs to achieve the temperature desired. The fans aren't going spool up heavy until the temp goes up. If the fan and cooling system is over kill, then it should be running at minimal speed at all times. Just make sure you protect your high end.

This is great as I broke one of my OEM ones so I needed to get a new one. I assume this is the same one that connected to the radiator side?

I have never used those but was wondering if it would be better to use more of the turbo application use them so cant be too bad. =)

There are some t-bolt clamps that may work. They are a little thicker in width. I would like to use the Oetiker ones, but cant seem to find the right size.

Although, I was looking at the HPS website, in their hose clamp section, they have a chart that says 1.5" ID hoses can use 44mm - 51mm clamps. I may just pick up that size.

I had to make two cuts equaling 1" on the hose. I was not thrilled to cut into a brand new $150 hose so I was very methodical about doing so. Lol.

They're both the same size. Radiator and engine outlet/ inlet side.

I definitely agree I wouldn’t want my engine at 220, but yes I do think if the max is set to 220 then the fan is going to be running at a higher speed than it needs to maintain thermostat temperature. I feel like the max this fan should ever need to run to keep the engine at desired temp is probably 70%. Again that is just a rough guess. Obviously it is going to heavily depend on other factors such as speed, high ambient temp, ac on, 4wd low, etc. In summer time I think we will be able to better judge what the settings should be for high temps.
I think it has been cleared up but my other point I was trying to get across is just because the start temp is say 140 degrees does not mean the fan is going to come on at 140 degrees where the engine reads coolant temp. With the thermostat closed, the temp sensor for the fan is not going to be getting a lot of flow. Sorry if my response seemed off last night I was tired and definitely could have worded things better. The way the thread was going I was worried someone was going to set a 170 min and 220 max which I think is going to have the fan blowing very fast at normal speeds and fluctuating a lot which isn’t needed. The way it comes out of the box when the truck is warmed up the fan is going pretty good, definitely pulling way more air than the stock fan clutch at low speeds. It’s loud enough you can hear it when you are at a stop if no music is on.

Again it is winter time, but out of the box my truck hasn’t been going over 190 even on some steep hill climbs, in drive throughs etc.
Summer time will be fun to play around and see in the really hot weather how it performs.
