I was looking at my local auto parts store and they have the belt, (3) pulleys, and tensioner all made by Gates. Will the Gates tensioner not work? Do you have a parts number for the Febest or just the bearing itself?

I knew I was forgetting something. Thanks man!

Ah ok. Houston prices are pretty high from window shopping. I was thinking about painting it Quick Sand or Cement. haha

What do you want to pay?

If that's something reasonable, show up with that amount in cash. A choke a horse roll.

If he still won't budge, leave him your name and number and walk.

I've bought 3 nice vehicles over the years that way. I've also 'lost' 4-5 buys that way. But just because someone else bought the vehicle doesn't mean I should have paid more than what I thought was fair.

My last private purchase was someone who knew what the 'real' trade allowance he was being offered was. (not the make you feel good number). I bought the car for that price + what his sales tax offset would have been with the trade. We were both happy.

I bought my '11 TRD OR DC with 150K for $18K. One owner Texas truck as well, and all the maintenance records. Maybe I overpaid a bit, I don't know. Don't care either. The truck is in immaculate shape minus a few paint chips. Fresh tires, brakes. So the price you're considering doesn't sound unreasonable. I bought it back in November, and have already started modding.

So this is what I've done so far, spark plugs, belt, and oil change. The belt was a royal pain because there's very limited room work from the top. I'll plan on doing the fluids tomorrow and later this week. I have gear oil (2x differential and transfer case), coolant, brake fluid, power fluid, engine air filter, and cabin air filter on the way. Still iffy about transmission fluid. Some say to change it, some say not to because it's over 100k miles and I don't know if the previous owner has changed it or not. What do you guys think about transmission? Any other maintenance that should be addressed?

The gates tensioner is the full assembly. Rarely does the actual tensioner go out - it’s usually just the tensioner pulley. The gates tensioner pulley won’t really work with the OEM tensioner. Swapping the whole assembly requires removal of the alternator and is quite the chore.

Febest makes a tensioner pulley that is a direct swap - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HAP3W1W?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

You can also swap the OEM tensioner pulley bearing with this one - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0045DWDJ...olid=1VNNK0J7AYR5G&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

The Febest pulley does likely have a made in China bearing - so proceed how you will ( I put it on my truck and kept the old pulley for a bearing swap down the line.)

Great info. Thanks for sharing. So I decided to just change the belt and keep my existing pulleys. Inspected the existing pulleys and they all seem to be holding up.

I bought my truck 2012 double cab 4x4 at 90k miles. It’s an AZ truck but it was shipped to HI so no rust. the couple that was selling it were going through some tough times and just wanted what they owed on the truck, 19k. came with a shell and some 5100s fairly new as well.

some minor tree scuffs and the hood and roof are fading. Seats had seat covers on it her whole life.

I added some 3rd gen off-road wheels a 1.5 in toytech lift in the rear. I flushed all fluids when I first got it. Did the brakes replaced the needle bearing. I plan on swapping suspension components as I near 120k but as of right now she’s tight as a tiger. She was really babied her whole life first owner was an older gentleman second was a older couple and now me who takes her through Hawaii mud and sand every weekend:)

You stole that baby from the couple. Wish something like that would pop up around here. I drained my coolant yesterday and for some reason, I only got 3 liters out. I don't know how everyone is getting 2 gallons. Do you recall how much coolant you were about to drain?

I had a little bit more than that but there is a block drain valve, driver side (I saw some say it was on passenger side too?) if you really wanna drain all of it out. But if your coolant isn’t super nasty you should be good to just fill her back up

I waited a long time for a truck like this as where I’m at 2wd trucks still go for like 25k! It was right when covid hit
