Any deals on shipping right now? Saw there was $5 promo code but expired now. Also, recommendations for drive shaft grease? 1st taco. Gonna pick up gear fluid also for t-case and rear differential. Front was already changed. Souther California. Looking 75w-90.

@Pablo8, does the NGLI #2 work as spider grease?

Yes, well in general unless #1 is called for or you are in extreme cold

Is it bad to put a different type of grease cartridge in a grease gun? I'd purge the old stuff out until I got one color but there'd technically still be a little bit of the other. I did it once to swap to gray and still see red in the bleeder valve but only gray comes out the business end. It was a pain though.

Google is less than helpful in shedding light on this. All I found are instructions on how to purge air or replace the cartridge, nothing about using a different one in the same gun. I figure this has to be fine since one gun per grease type seems inefficient.

In theory you want 100% pure, but your method sounds fine.

I have blown light oil through as a solvent in between but that isn't without risk either.

In the red NGLI goes. The gray in there was for SPC ball joints so I won't need it for a while anyway.

I don't know how one would know when to stop pumping new grease in if the grease were grey. I like being able to see the the clean red goodness oozing out.

Also, turns out I live pretty darn close to the OP. I bought some Rear Diff. juice from him in the 110 variety last week. He's a great guy, buy with confidence. Thanks again, @Pablo8

Also, him and I were discussing changing the rear diff. oil more frequently than the front. I know for sever use, the manual says every 15k, regular is 30k, but why would one change the rear and front at the same interval given the front diff. probably sees 5% of the use the rear does, if that. Thus, I am thinking I'm going to change the rear every 15k and front every 30k. Thoughts on that? Flaws in my logic?

I pumped way too much into the balljoints and squeezed some out. Still probably too much in there. I'd rather keep the red in there fulltime but SPC calls for 3-5% moly and I couldn't determine if the NGLI #2 has any. Maybe I'm just dumb.

I was waiting for a batch of really cold to recommend this for the TC (Tacoma and Tundra):

    https://www.amsoil.com/p/manual-synchromesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30-mtf/?zo=515729

I was totally surprised how much faster the TC goes in and and out of 4HI/4LO. I thought it might be more sluggish, now it's instant. I have see a VOA of the factory fill and apparent viscosity is marginally thinner, so it must not be a function of the viscosity. Good to know the MTF can be used with confidence. Has a good additive pack, won't harm any brass or bronze and should last the life of the truck.
