Another question, if repainting and adding decals do you paint, clear coat, add decals and clear coat again? Sorry if basic but wanting to start making some customs myself. Watched some you tube videos but cant find one that covers the whole process.

I haven't done any repaints yet, but I don't think you have to clear again after decals. @RLMoody would know, he's a pro at this sort of stuff.

My friend that does customs does it both ways. Some of mine are clear coated then decals added and some clear coated over the decals and some decals on the paint with no clear coat. For wheels your best bet is to go to any of the toy shows if they are in your area. You can usually buy cars for the wheels and find someone selling a box at a cheap price. If not then online.

I dont remember off hand who the manufacturer was who made these kits but they were offered in a variety of colors and came with a lot of the detail work already done maybe 15 years ago. They did not sell well and I bought all 3 of these for less than $20. They were easy to build and came out great. I tried to make each one a little bit different from the others including going Pro Street on the black Coronet. The back wheels came off a Pro Street T-Bird SC that I dropped and could not salvage. I have made deep dish wheels before and should have done that so they matched the rims on the front. dec20 pics 072.jpg dec20 pics 074.jpg dec20 pics 204.jpg dec20 pics 205.jpg dec20 pics 210.jpg dec20 pics 212.jpg

I just started today trying to do wheel swaps on 1/64s. Its not an easy thing to do. Hot Wheels are harder than Johnny Lightnings. At least the M2s are screwed together. Have a box with 15 or 20 that I want to change wheels or repaint as I get time.

I tried doing a wheel swap years ago when I first started collecting. Looked good but didn’t roll good. I may or may not have posted one or two that I did.

This buggy also came in a very rare version that is the same color but has white interior and side tanks. Don’t know what they are getting for it these days but I have never seen it for sale.
