New to 3rd gen, what should I do?

Looks good! I guess from there I’d be looking into getting a scooped sport hood. Other than that unless you’re avidly off roading or have no interior things done I’d be done

 

Update your profile to reflect your new vehicle.

Stop posting triplicates of your photos.

Spend time with the truck as is. If you find shortcomings in for how you use it, work on improving that area. Don't jump feet first into a 'build' just because everyone else does.

For the most part the truck is perfect to me! Just the small odds and ends that I wouldn’t think of. But also didn’t mean to post triplets haha have they made an app for this thing yet

I disagree with the suggestion for the scooped hood. I have one, and all it does is block my forward vision.

Remove the ball hitch from the receiver when it's not actually in use. Otherwise, it's just a ram waiting to cause damage to some unsuspecting parked car.

 

Could trade it for a non scooped hood and make a couple hundred bucks on top of it!

 

That's kind of the point of leaving it in.. it protects against rust inside the receiver and it gives a first point of contact for any vehicle that doesn't hit the brakes hard enough or you're not watching when backing up. It's just an added layer of protection

 

Get the scooped hood, easily adds 5hp

I'd say maybe an exhaust but my biggest tip is find a purpose first. Have an end goal in mind before you mod. Best off the line? Best off roader? Camp from it? Off grid, bugout truck? Decide what you want in a truck first

 

i think its against the law to have the hitch in when not in use, at least in Commiefornia anyway

oh and like suggested above, just drive it for a while. You’ll figure out after about 20k what you actually need or want for it. I think for instant improvement in appearance, slap a trd pro grill on it, desticker it, remove the front air dam, and 265/75/16 or 265/70/17 all terrain tires and some rims will make a big difference......but then, you will have stepped onto the slippery mod slope! Lol

 

Disagree. You're more likely to wind up with a hitch rusted solid in the receiver.

Maybe the hitch could be protective with a square on 'love tap'

Or it could be the thing that causes your frame to bend. Which the receivers are culpable in anyway. The hitch just makes increases the odds.

Guess it just depends on how lucky you feel.

 

Love the black accents on the door handles to eliminate the chrome. very subtle and clean. blacked out headlights would look awesome and match the rest of the truck a lot better.

Just had a set done from Kevin and couldn't be happier with the results.

 

What he said , bhlm is a must since you already blacked out other things. Kevins bhlm work is impressive- i had him do mine. What makes the bhlm easier, buy someones stock tacoma headlights and mail those to Kevin to get modded. Then just swap yours out when the modded lights arrive and sell yours to get your money back thats what i did

I would add either an AVS or Weathertech hood protector / bug deflector and in channel window rain guards.

^^^he even sometimes keeps stock sets in stock so you can order a set, he'll make them and send them, then you send him yours so theres no down time. Easily one my favorite mods I've done.

 

Can Someone tell me if any of the bug deflectors actually work for keeping the bugs off the windshield, rather than just decor. I read a bunch of reviews, and too many people say they are too low profile to be effective at intended purpose.
And any suggestions on color for a sky silver OFF Road double cab. Black? Thanks.

 

I know it doesn't cover much surface area, but I honestly just use it more for paint protection from chips. And I'm in FL so the love bug seasons get pretty bad so anything helps haha
