Looking for advice on what scanner to buy for a 98 Taco. Need one that will read SRS and ABS codes. I’m overwhelmed by the online scanner descriptions, especially the number of negative reviews for each product. Don’t mind paying high $$$ if it works and is reasonably user friendly.
    Thanks

Thanks JBrandt. I bought an Autel ML 629 which was advertised as compatible but wasn’t. I believe on 98s the a 22 pin connector (on the engine block) is the plug in location and Autel’s cable is a 16 pin. Maybe it would’ve worked if I bought an adapter cable but I sent the Autel back anyway because its software wouldn’t download. From what I’ve read, many manufacturers of scanners say their products are compatible, and they might be for specific model years, but for older models and especially for ABS and SRS codes, these guys are either stretching the truth or don’t test their products on all years and just make BS marketing claims which is why I posted my question. Will Torque Pro work on a 98 Taco?

Thanks treyus30. Looks like consensus is building for Torque products.

You want the plug under the drivers right knee for most obdII functions.

I heard some of the older Trucks do not support the ABS or SRS codes there was a thread sometime back .

    Since I don`t have ABS I never worried .
