I recently busted my tail light off-roading last weekend. I've been looking at updating my 06 tail lights to LEDs before now and this has given me an actual reason to do so. The reason I'm making this thread despite there being at least a couple existing threads out there is I want to update to stock looking LEDs like the ones on from '09(?) and on. I've seen these thrown around a bit
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-JDM-F...ghts-05-14-Toyota-Tacoma-Pickup-/401627628870
but I've seen comments from early on indicating that the quality might not quite be there.
So my questions are; Are the DEPOs a quality replacement for a stock(ish) LED tail light? If not, what do you recommend for LED replacements that are reliable and will last and I wont have to replace unless I brake it again?
I'd rather buy once and cry once, but if I can keep it under/around $175 I think I'll be happy. The only reason I want to be replacing these in the future is if I brake them myself again.

Because everyone likes photos, here are some from the weekend. I was running solo so I don't have any action shots.

I have both. The depo blacked out ones and also a set of TYC oem-style led tail lights.

The taillight (not brakes) of the depos are definitely not as bright as the TYC. When the brakes are depressed, both depo/tyc are the same brightness....

If you only care to get led tail lights and dont care about the blacked out housing, dont get the depos. I would suggest buying a set of used factory led tail lights off a FS thread.

If you want a blacked out tail light housing, depos are the only option.

I never had a leak or moisture problem with either depo or tyc. But one depo side did have a malfunctioning brake light after a while that I had replaced under warranty.

Caveat: the downside with LEDs, if 1 LED burns out in the circle/ring of lights, there is no way to replace it. You'll need to replace the whole housing.

Thank you for your reply! I've heard that about led's before regarding if one bulb burns out it's all toast. How long have you had each set?

I've used the blacked out depos for over 5 years with the only incident early on with one side that stopped working. The warranty replacement has been fine. I think my avatar still has my truck with the depos.

The tyc oem looking housings have been good for the past year. I started disliking the dimness of the depos while driving at night and swapped them out for the oem looking ones.
