A/C O ring type?

    I was told that I should take my 2007 Toyota Tacoma into the repair shop instead of risking furthermore damage to the truck. This was an a/c problem that I was trying to fix. But instead of taking it in right away I decided to do one last check before taking in. Now I've concluded that the problem for my leak is probably an o ring that gone bad. Its the o ring on the line that connects the the condenser on the top right corner of it. This was done by using uv dye and a uv flashlight to pin point the problem. But when I took off the the leaking line off from the fitting of the condenser I noticed that there was no o ring and i'm not sure if there is supposed to be one or not. It might of just gotten really rotten and fell off but I probably would of seen some trace of it but I can't even tell. Also there are so many different types of o rings I'm not even sure which one to get. Do I get the green o rings or do I get the o rings with the metal ring surrounding it. I watched a video and he was working on a 2008 tacoma and he said that there was an o ring in that location I just mentioned but didn't actually get to see him take it off.

    What he said. Or go to the dealer and pay about 5 - 10 dollars for the pair ( one on each hose fitting ).

    Believe it or not, Autozone has a full A/C O-ring package you can buy that includes everything. I used it in my '07 when I did the condenser and compressor. I can get a pic of the bag if you need it.

    I just want to be certain but what type of o ring did you stick on the condenser lines?

    Do you mean where the hard lines attach? I'm sorry it's been a few years and I just don't remember. What I do remember is that when I removed them, it was obvious which item from the o-ring kit was the proper replacement.

    I did this last year and I used the black one because it was thicker. I was still leaking with the green one. The green one is supposed to be made of better material (HNBR) but it was not working in my case.

    That green o ring is a joke. The High Pressure line connecting to the bottom left port of the condenser has a small groove around the end that one of those green o rings will have room to move around in. The black fits like a champ. On the condensers top right ride use the correct metal and rubber gasket seal and stay away from the O ring

    The black ones technically are not rated for refrigerant, just oil and fluids

    The green o-rings are supposed to used with a/c fittings. They come in different sizes/thicknesses. Maybe you just didn't have the right size?

    But I haven't had a condenser out of a Tacoma yet, can't picture exactly what's in there.

    Usually the metal/rubber washer type seals are for Chevy and domestic cars

    That HP line wirh the Schrader valve may have been the line that was replaced a couple of summers ago. Must’ve been that same shit head mechanic. I think honestly the dye I was seeing was old I cleaned it off and I’m no longer seeing it. My temp goes down to 48 degrees I’ve seen it go colder. I think I got enough oil in the system and not too much. I did end up having a shop reload the refrigerant cuz to hell with those harbor freight manifolds not a fan. But I did successfully swap the compressor, the line from the compressor to the condenser, the expansion valve and the condenser itself. Washed the lines as well as the evap core. It seems to be working great. Very happy so far

    I mean I'm pretty sure black and green are not to be interchanged. Sometimes I'll take a line off a new car and it'll have a black o-ring from the factory, but they're different than the black ones we buy retail
