Funds are now secured for some protection. Now that I am looking to put down some $$ for some skids, its looking like good quality ones are hard to get a hold of here. I am (firmly decided on) going for aluminum for corrosion and weight reasons.

The OKX engine and tranny package is a reasonable price (sold by arconeindustries) is only $69 for shipping. These do not come with the xfer case skid so id probably be building that myself from steel. The scrapes on my crossmember say its the most abused spot anyways, haha. My biggest problem (and whats stopping the purch) with these is that the return bends around the perimeter of the panels are all 45 deg and not 90. This just seems much weaker design over the 90's on skids like the RCI's.

Anyone know some good avenues for the RCI skids up here in Canada? or other Canadian brands that wont cost a fortune to ship/import?

05-20 TACOMA ALUMINUM FRONT SKIDPLATE - RA Motorsports This with the MOAB package does have my juices going. The square welded boxed mounts are a little weird though.

@somebody, did you end up getting the RA Motorsports aluminum skid plates? I'm very interested and ready to purchase.

I did not end up going forward with these. Decided to go build it myself route with some steel for now.

Was really wanting to build myself, but time constraints and all, so just ordered the basic overland AL skids, will add my own Moab reinforcement later. Let me/us know how you make out.

Nice! Would love to see pics and how they fare in the wild. The 10ga steel with some. Reinforcements has stood up well so far to a handful of hits. Might be tempted to make up an aluminum set in the future just to compare.

Finally got the RA Motorsports overland aluminum skid plates installed.
Was not easy, was not fun, but it’s finally done.

I’m going to MOAB the skids myself. (Got some al plates, argon, and going to tig weld the reinforcements).
If you install this, the existing threaded holes with no bolts need to be cleaned first. (D’uh! )
The bolts with spacers, well I had to swap with shorter spacers (nut with washer each side).
Super tight fit, no room for play, but looks awesome!
