Ooh, I like that idea. Especially since I recently purchased a 4pk of locks and have 2 extra. Good call!

Probably owned by one of those “I shouldn’t have to get up under my truck and maintain the frame” type people in the rust belt.

I found this on youtube and it is for the 2nd gen Tacos. The guy removes his brake hardware and I don't see why you'd have to do that. He also never mentions the o-ring seal #90301-83002, and I never saw it in the video. Looks like a straight forward procedure otherwise.

yes I saw that video as well!

You have to disassemble the rear brakes to get to the e-brake cable so you can pull the axle off. I believe you can see the o-ring at 57 seconds into the video sitting over the flange.

The guy never replaced the o-ring, so I'm wondering how necessary it is. It seems the seal does all of the actual gear lube retention.

I've checked all over my local parts shops and none of them even list the o-ring, and can't convert the Toyota part number, but they all stock the seal. I'm thinking the o-ring can pretty much be ignored and reused.

Yeah I get you, I figure if I’m gonna do all the work and if I have the part then I’m just gonna go ahead and replace it regardless of its condition. There no dealerships around your area?

I made up a light for that plugs into one of the two accessory SAE ports on the Warn Zeon winch so that I can see the winch line and drum through the cutouts on my bumper. The ports are activated using the winch controller.
I used a set of these LED light strips (came in a pack of two), they are very bright and cast a nice pattern filling the dark void. Bought a pack of SAE plugs and made up a simple harness.
Added a little asthetic value to the engine bay with this very nice Mobil 1 oil decal.

Thin, weighs nothing, and serves the intended purpose, and super easy to install. They come with 3M double-sided adhesive tape on them which has a very strong bond.

I am not sure if this will apply to you guys. I have a regular cab so things may be different, but when I regeared I saw that the O ring was falling apart so later on I ended up removing the axles to replace it. I did so by disconnecting the hard brake line from the back of the drums, and detaching the e brake cable mounts from the leaf springs and by the front leaf spring mounting bolt (12mm bolts). This gave me enough slack to where I was able to pull the axle completely out and lay it next to the truck while it was on jackstands. This left the drums completely assembled and the e brake completely untouched so all I had to do was place the new o ring, slide the axle back in place, reconnect hard line, and bolt everything back up.

I would suggest giving it a shot before dismantling your brakes. If there isn't enough slack, just slide the axle back in and proceed to follow with brake dismantling.
