Fog Light Install

Later this week a local shop is going to install/aim DD SS3 Sport Amber fog lights and Morimoto XB Gen2 headlights. Prior to that the new light switch and fog light relay needed installed, since no local shops were willing to do that portion.

Comparison of OEM light switch from SX trim vs. 84140-0R020:



Following Nitori's OEM SR Foglight Mod (pre-wired) to swap out the light/turn signal switch to the letter. Eventually, Nitori notes:

So let's add some info for anyone wondering how to continue.

The Tacoma steering wheel removes exactly the same as the Tundra wheel in this video:



Once the wheel is off, unclip all the wire harnesses from the bottom of the switch assembly. There is one tricky yellow clip that is pulled down instead of pushed in like the others:



With all the wires disconnected, the whole light/wiper/steering angle sensor can be removed from the steering column. Its held in place by two clips --one at 12 o'clock and one at 6:



The assembly is snugly on the column, but pulls straight off.

The last step before reassembly is to move the wiper switch and steering angle sensor to the new light switch housing. The steering angle sensor is held in place by three clips -- one at 12 o'clock, one at 4, and one at 8. Here is a photo showing the back of the assembly where all three clips are clear:



There is a single clip holding the wiper switch in place; pull the clip upwards, and the wiper switch will slide out:



To reassemble, just put everything back together in reverse order starting with the new light switch assembly.

After everything was back together the switch worked just fine and lit up the fog icon on the dashboard when activated.
