Most places I have lived will accept dried up latex paint in the landfills. PO and now us accumulated quite a few partial gallons ~30 or so. I have some ideas for drying the paint left in the cans. I have time but not much covered outdoor space and it's cold and generally wet.

Does anyone have some unique ideas for such a thing? I just need to get rid of it all!

Depot and Lowes sell a product, Krud Kutter that works well. I've also heard but never tried kitty litter.

In Austin I can schedule to drop off paint and chemicals at the city, it’s free. Check with the city on disposal.

Pour thin layers (about 1” of paint) into a cardboard box lined with newspaper. Allow paint to dry one layer at a time until all paint has hardened. When first layer has hardened, pour in another layer. When you’ve dried out all paint, put box out with your regular trash.

Cat litter is working, the cold is not helping. Doing 4 cans at a time, my trash is full anyway. Thanks

Guess I'm late with the suggestions. I was going to say mix with cheap cat litter (sepiolite), spread out in disposable baking pans in your garage to dry.

I am just pouring the litter in the cans. Seems to be working. Maybe next time I'm out I will get some pans to speed the process. Thanks

All my cans are sitting under 2x12 cover under the shop eaves. All is well, let the chucking begin!

I fought the trash man for about 4 weeks trying to toss paint cans. Gave up, stuck them behind my fence, out of sight, out of mind. Going out of my way to dispose of that shit isn't why I pay for trash pickup.
