    id love to keep my TOYOTA divider in use with the rail- would this rack not allow rail use after install?

    I emailed that question to the company and per the rep who responded, there is about a 40 pound difference between the steel (100) and aluminum (60). Aluminum is listed as a $200 plus option on the web site.

    I would not trust an aluminum bedrack, but that's just me...

    I'm confident It would hold the weight without issues, it's the cycling of the rack induced by the vehicle moving thru uneven roads that concerns me.

    Realize this was like over 3 years ago, but did you end up getting an answer on this or go with this rack? Thinking about the same situation for my bikes in the back of the truck. I bought a different modular rack with the same intent, but hasn't quite worked out the way I intended.

    Never ended up going that route but found out that it was possible. It would be a bit of a pain to reinstall crossbars when not loading the scooters, and/or heavy loads on the sides of the rack might not be advised. So maybe the same issues you are running into.
