    Okay,

I have gone through TW in hopes to find a step by step on how to wire a garage door opener to a oem style momentary switch, but all of the threads get bogged down in weird things.

I'm looking to wire a garage door opener to a fused relay and an oem switch. I found a diagram that explains it off TW, but I have 2 questions. Where does the 12v and the dash light leads go?
    ‐--------‐
Different question- really want to wire 2 buttons off the remote to a single switch (DPDT)- would the included photo be the same thing or would I need two relays?

I am not experienced with this type of stuff so if you can be simplistic that would be awesome.

Just get a mirror from bobsmirrors.com he has new or used Gentex mirrors with blue illuminating buttons just like in the pro. Garage door opener built in. There is a whole thread on it.

If you use Apple car play, you can get a homekit enabled garage door opener for $50 on Amazon. Shows up on the car play screen as you're leaving/returning to home. Don't even have to use car play, can even just say "Hey Siri open the garage" to your phone. Also works on Google if you are an android user.

    Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/meross-Compa...1614798857&sprefix=Meros,aps,350&sr=8-2-spons

Here's how I did it with two switches to open two doors. I've since switched to the homelink mirror and it's great.

I had parts collected up and had soldered the pigtail on the spare opener. Then, my wife found the Liftmaster MyQ device. That has been a killer option for the whole fam. We got rid of the keypad remote that would eat batteries.

I bought a new house late 2019 and it has the Liftmaster MyQ and it is amazing as well. I have opened my garage from 2500 miles away lol and... now you don't have to go back home to see if you shut the garage!
and... I have homelink in my truck as well...

We have an internet cam in the garage to check on things, esp as it is a level down. That helped a bit, but the IoT remote has been nice for situations like yours. The rules are nice also. We have one setup for when it is open for more than 5min. It hasn't been annoying in the least.

Ouch! That is about all that I make it.

When I decided to get it for my garage, I just called the service to do it. Of course, it’s always cheaper to solve the problem yourself, but you know I’d rather pay money to someone who knows how to handle the wires instead of getting hit by Zeus. I also remember I had problems with my garage doors. They just didn’t open. So I contacted the service that was nearby https://doorsdirect2u.co.uk/product-category/garage-doors/, and they just replaced my old doors with new ones. I’ve personally reinstalled the system, and now it works fine. I did it by myself because once I’d already had some knowledge on how to fix it. You should only do what you are skilled at. Otherwise, delegate. I think that it’s a life rule.

I got the MyQ add-on device for our garage door. Very easy to install and with the phone app you can use it anywhere. The nice part about this set-up is that if you accidentally forget to close your door it sends you a push notification telling you that you left the garage door open. After leaving for Daytona Bike Week one year with the bikes loaded on the trailer and forgetting to close door I wanted something that would reduce the chances of my ever doing that again. MyQ has fit the bill perfectly. Thank goodness I have nice neighbors who closed it for me that time :)

My truck came with the HomeLink mirror, but if it didn't I wouldn't hesitate to use MyQ to open and close the door before I jumped through all those hoops to set something up. Just my opinion, YMMV.

I just installed a new MyQ GDO, the one with the 2 big bright LEDs. I needed the extra light in my garage, and this fits the bill. Much easier to swap GDOs than to run additional lights.

The MyQ app and all are nice, but then I had that functionality before with a NEXX controller on my old Craftsman GDO. One issue with these newer MyQs is that they do not work with Alexa. Sucks, but I knew that going in. Nor do they seem to be compatible with my NEXX controller, which I wasn't sure about until I tried it. There may be a workaround that I am still exploring.

BTW, anyone in the MD burbs of DC needs a GDO I have a nice Craftsman belt drive to give away. Has outside keypad and motion detect light. Come get it.

I’m interested in whatever solution you end up going with.

As far as I understand, you need to connect the control panel with the gate. For this, on the new remote control, hold down the button necessary for programming for 5 seconds and then release it. Press the key on which the gate program is located 3 times on the head unit. Press the learning button once on the new device and release it - the program will be transferred to the new remote control. If, with this algorithm, the gate still does not work and does not respond to the control panel, then you may need to contact advantagegd.com specialists, who will be able to inspect your mechanism. Such breakdowns are often found when the mechanism is not of high quality or when short circuits occur in the remote control.
