hey folks, im trying to figure out a relatively inexpensive way to haul my 12 foot aluminum fishing boat around. ive got a 6 ft box with the bed rail system, was thinking about getting a ladder rack and strapping it to that, but wondering what you guys may be doing to get your boats around. thanks

I used on of these hauling a fishing kayak once.
Worked well enough. You may need to modify it to fit a 12’ boat? I have a 12’x6’4” utility trailer now. If you can afford a trailer and have some where to keep it.
I recommend get one, they come in handy a lot.

Not necessarily inexpensive, but very practical.

x2 for a trailer, especially if you are older. At one time I used roof racks to haul my kayaks but it became difficult for me to lift them up to the rack myself. I then made a rack that sat inside the bed to carry the yaks using the above mentioned HF bed extender. It was better but still less than ideal. A buddy of mine decided to sell his yak trailer and I picked it up. It's so much easier.

A converted utility trailer is a very good idea. It can do double duty if the need arises......

The DOT limits rear overhang to 4'........Wher I live I could probably get by with more, some places maybe not so much.
