    Cheap insurance.

One flash/update without issue may be ok. But I've had a .cuw update file fail multiple times about ¾ of the way through each time.

Leaving the truck in the ignition on state for a longer period of time because of a failed attempt could potentially brick the ECU if the battery drains enough (although likely recoverable, still a PITA).

So if I do the update myself I definitely need a battery maintainer

Schumacher battery tender is what I use.

As an alternative, you could simply hook-up some jumper cables from your battery to another (running) vehicle during the flash.

If you're nervous, ask your dealer to do it.[/QUOTE]

Both here in Norcal refused to do it. They acted like they’d never heard of an ecu update.

So I called my dealer and there person I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about when I explained the driveability issues and that I want to be updated from 04B31 to 04B33. All she kept saying is that they don’t show anything in their database. I asked to speak to the service manager but never heard back. I have techstream installed as well as the VF tune Software. I also have my tune pack downloaded. My battery maintainer shows up today. I am so tempted to just do it myself even though I’ve never done anything like it. I’m still worried about softbricking my ECU. I assume if the techstream has the days countdown it’s unlocked and ready?

Put the battery tender on it and just do it yourself. Sounds like you're all set up and good to go.

I had the update done yesterday. Here's a photo of the description from the Toyota dealer if this helps any of you.
On the drive home, the truck drove so much better.

Well my vin is included in the T-SB-0092-20 so hopefully once I talk to the right person they will do the update without any problems. If not I am just going to do it myself. I definitely have poor acceleration and weird gear changes and hunting. I think I’ve almost gotten used to it since it’s been almost 2 years. I did a catback and CAI but that just made it feel more sluggish so I took them off

Just do it yourself. It’ll take you five minutes and you’ll wonder why you waited so long. The process is the same whether you do it or the dealer does it.

Afterwards, take it for a nice drive so you can see how much better it is.

Then OV tune it and NEVER look back.

The funny thing is, I hooked up my battery charger to do the TSB update. But I never hooked it up to do any OV flashes.

If you were in the NNJ area, I’d help you out. It’s not even a big deal. Just nerve wracking because it’s a new experience.

Nice. Yes it’s nerve racking with the thought of soft bricking my ECU but I’m just overthinking it. I just need to do it.
