I recently ordered a trailer brake controller for my truck, so I went ahead and removed the lower part of the dashboard. I did so to remove the little cubby where I will be putting the controller, and also to find the wires so that when it arrives tomorrow I can just plug it in and be done.

However during all of this I found a small connector with five wires. It was plugged into a nonexistent plug right under the cubby. At first I didn’t think much about it, I then remembered that FJ’s all came wired with the “auto-lsd” setup and the only thing you needed was the switch. I know this isn’t for that particular purpose, but am just wondering if anyone knows what it is actually for and if I could just install a switch in its place.

Looking online it seems the only things in that area is a auto headlight switch. Not sure if that’s what the wires are for or not, would seem odd that Toyota would only include such a switch on higher end trucks.
