    FS: Toyota 7.5" 3rd Member Differential - 4.10 - Non E-Locker
    Asking Price: $250

Selling a Toyota 8" 3rd Member differential. This came out of a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, Axle Code A03A, 4.10 Gearing. It is an open differential. The 4Runner had 191k miles when it was removed. No known issues with this differential and I did NOT attempt to take apart anything on the inside.

I'm aware this is a Tacoma forum, but I do not meet the minimum number of posts on the 4Runner sites, so you all get first dibs . This should fit 96-02 4Runners (3rd Gen) and 96-04 Tacomas, assuming it is a non-elocker axle.

I was originally planning to just refinish the Rear Axle Housing/3rd member on the stock 4Runner housing, however I later decided to swap for a E-Locking 3rd member instead. The housing had some surface rust forming on the exterior only. The housing is quite thick so its strength is not compromised. The loose rust was knocked off with a wire wheel and wire brush, the rust converted with rust-oleum rust reformer, and top coated with enamel. You can see evidence of pitting on the top surface, approx. 1/16" deep.

    Wrong section BTW...

Hope you're aware, tacoma do not use 8" open rear end like the 4r. Tacoma have either 8.4" or 8" elock. The 8" open will not work with a 8" elock housing.

Did some research, and yes you are correct. My apologies to everyone who I may have confused. Thanks for catching that! I guess I thought they would be the same since I swapped an elocking Tacoma diff into the 4R Axle housing with some modification. The 3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen Tacoma had the same E-Locker Diff, but the open diffs between the 1st Gen Tacoma and 3rd Gen are not compatible. I will move the post.

It seems that the open diff of the 4R may be interchangeable between the earlier Toyota Pickups and 4Runners ('86-'95) and referred to as the 'Toyota V6/Turbo 8" 3rd'. Do you know if that is true?
