I'd call Leer. Does that model cap accept an actuator? When I bought my ARE, I had to pay extra for the next model up to be able to have the actuator. If you only have the basic t-twist locks then I don't think it can be done.

Ok, then yeah I would think Leer is probably the only source for what you're looking for, but someone smarter than me might know more. I would imagine it's best to install that and the pop n lock at the same time since you're already running wires.

    Leer cap
The current Leer caps include a fuse block with 6 inputs and 8 outputs. One of the inputs and one of the outputs is reserved for "Lock" and another of the inputs/outputs is reserved for "Unlock." So, it's ready for the installation of a remote locking system.

Leer offers, as an option, a keyless remote that uses the truck's fob. I'm not sure if this can be retrofitted after the cap is ordered. (Anyway, this was a moot issue for me because since my truck has a manual transmission, it doesn't have a fob.)

Anyone ever find solution to this? I just put new Leer 100XR on my TRD OR. I just tried the Pop & Lock PL9772 solution mentioned above, but doesn't fit. The handle shaft is not the right shape and too big.

Leer told me to go back to dealer, but I was not terribly thrilled with my dealer. I'm looking for DIY solution. Anyone have other ideas?

I got the Tacoma wiring kit; Leer also took a look and had me change out the lock itself to work with the lock wiring/actuator/etc.
Also had puppypunter make a harness to connect from the Tacoma wiring out of the Leer connector box, or something like that. I can't recall-- it's all fuzzy.

Nice. I've been looking at aftermarket handle/locks as possible route. I just installed the OEM Power Tailgate Lock and figure I can tap in to it (just two wires). Save me running all the way up to drivers door.

    Thanks for fast response.

I recall now. Puppypunter made the harness that taps into the tailgate plug/socket and then into the Leer fuse box, then wire the Leer actuator with some of the wiring from their kit, to their fuse box. The new lock by Leer shown. Feel free to pay it forward to him; he did a fantastic job!

I do not; we have a Leer location in (Oregon City) and prior to purchasing in person, called and spoke with them about what was needed. The price was slightly over $100. You'll need a compatible key cylinder/assembly. Probably cheaper to just cut a couple wires and find the right crimp connector that goes into the Leer fuse box and to the actuator.

This is an old thread but in case anyone still wondering about factory remote,
I got the leer canopy with keyless and also got the OEM Tacoma tailgate keyless. It’s a factory accessory. Ran the tailgate wires to the front passenger door area and then joined the canopy wire at the tailgate. No splicing. Works on factory remote with 2 clicks to unlock. 1 to lock

Thanks for the follow up ACE911. Did you do this with the 100XR or a different shell? I have a 100XR and am interested, but don't know if the actuator from P&L will work with the handle.
I'd happily do some machining to make an adaptor or get a different handle for the lid, but don't want to learn it all the hard way if someone here has done it already.

yes, it was on the 100XR. It already had the Leer factory keyless installed . Instead of splicing the truck wiring it was easier to plug into the tailgate keyless. Think that OEM plug and play keyless tailgate was around $130 and took around an hour to install.
