I just did mine. Got them from Max breaks. Great prices and had them fast. 165 drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads. Shipped and had them in two days

Have you run this brand before? How well do the Max pads bite? How much dust do they generate?

LMAO the StopTech rotors and Advics (OEM) pads were about $530. The PowerStop calipers were about $400, so $930 all in. It compares favorably to the full-fledged StopTech big-brake kits, which run $3000-3500...

 

Bought the StopTech cryo slots & TRD pads. It’s all goin’ together c/w a lift. Just need warmer weather & some time off work.

Can you do the 4runner big brake kit on the third gen? For the price you are saying it may be worth looking into.

I’m still hoping to do the tundra booster swap. One thing at a time.

 

From the parts shown on Rock Auto, 2nd and 3rd gen Taco calipers, rotors, wheel hubs, spindles, etc. are all the same.

How much does your truck weigh without the cap?

 

Don't see the problem with braking tbh, stops dead every time with stock pads, rotors and calipers with my 35s.

 

In my experience the slotted rotors work better after going through water, mud, etc., so I was going to get them anyway. Might as well spend a little more on calipers and upsize

 

I haven’t weighed the truck without the cap. I was 6000lbs with so I’m assuming 150lbs lighter.

I will say the 4 runner brakes did help a lot. Ultimate fox for the spongy brakes would be the upgraded booster.

make sure you have 17’s. 16’s won’t fit apparently.

My stocks weren’t bad, but with the weight, I was going through brakes a lot.

by the way, how are your rear brakes? Working okay?

 

You are pretty light. Mine is ok but more stopping power would be nice for those quick brake times when Toronto idiots have to brake going around a turn.

 

He is lighter then our trucks are stock. Kinda puts it into perspective lol. I always found the brakes on these trucks to be spongy. Mind you, when I drove @Joe23 truck, I almost went through the windshield. Brakes on the third gen were pretty nice.

He almost rear ended me as he wasn’t use to the shitty brakes I had.

 

Yeah it's a nice use for that spot for many reasons. Figured to try out if i wanted a light bar or not since i couldn't figure out why people used them. One thing lead to another and now i have a 40" lightbar and 3 sets of pod lights.

Made night driving out in moose country a lot easier and imo safer

 

My kid put Max Brakes pads and rotors on all four corners of his Jetta and he whips her pretty good. I've driven his car as well and they are quality brakes...hes had them on for about 2 years now with little wear and zero dust. I'll put them on when the Taco needs em.

 

I haven't used them, but my uncle has. Says they work great. Just from yesterday I was happy with them. Dust wise, hard to say but they are ceramic so it should be minimal.
wowzers!! I mean the callipers are extra but 530 for the rotors and pads is steep for sure.

Have you ever had a problem with rocks getting stuck in the holes and slots?

 

Had ‘em on another performance application. Granted, it has never seen dirt or gravel but short answer is No. Never had trouble with stones or rocks.

 

Yeah I’m thinking about mud holes and whatnot along the trails lol shit gets deep sometimes

 

Kinda nice once you finally get out of town & the terrain gets better.
