@KB Voodoo - what are the specs of the locks on the new cargo max? I have to grease these current locks weekly. I'd like to replace them before they seize up. Thanks!

The locks do stink completely from KBVOODOO. Mine failed the first storm. This is what I replaced mine with. Bad thing though is I forgot if I used the 5/8 or 7/8. Also had to cut and round the corners on the lock arms as well. I’m pretty sure the locks provided are not for outdoor use. I was hoping with specs from the kb provided locks, I could get an exact replacement so I don't have to fiddle with modifying one. Fingers crossed.

    Thanks a ton though!

Have you emailed us about this?

I ran my Cargo Max boxes throughout an entire western NY winter without a single issue, and we are in the buckle of the salt belt.

I reached out to you. I didn’t get the vibe you cared much.

Ive had to grease my locks 3 times in the 2 months I've had them. Idk if they're rusting inside or getting junk in them. But the keys get stuck after just a few weeks

Did you get any specs for the locks? I’m headed to my garage and will see exactly what I used. It was super simple to modify the arms with basic tools that you might have. Also you might be able to order the correct arm length. I didn’t know how they measured them so I just modified what was sent with the upgraded weather proof locks from CCL

    Nope. No response.
How did you hack the arm off? I guess an angle grinder would do?

I'd love a strut on the box. That thing keeps whacking me in the head lol

Gas strut would be awesome. I’ll have to think on that one as far as how I would set it up. Although I migh not consider a gas strut because I kinda like how it slams shut on me when I drive away with it open. Let’s me know that I was an idiot and left it open.
So the arm that comes with the lock I linked in a previous response is too long. I basically traced the old one on it with a sharpie Cut it to length with a 10” fine hand saw straight across at the longest part of the traced portion and then used a table grinder to round the edges and smooth the cut so it matched what came with the cargo box. Didn’t take long at all. If you don’t have a table grinder then a metal file and a bench vise could get the job done.

I used the 5/8 cam lock

the reason I wanted the specs from KBVOODOO was to figure out how the company he used measured the cam or as I have been calling the arm that locks it. Here is a photo from the back of the packaging. Might help ya figure out what size of cam to order from CCL if your not wanting to cut, grind and smooth.

I wouldn’t hesitate to get a rack from this vendor. I’ve bought two from him. Even though I couldn’t extract some specs on a forum for a lock cylinder. I still love my rack...hehe
I feel like he has the best looking product out there with the most options and attachments then anyone else. I’ve had my rack with a RTT on some pretty awesome trails and rough trails. It has held up and never once been a concern to me. Issues with previous racks have been resolved and addressed. The latest rack is awesome. Powder coating is sturdy. Mine came with a touch up pen, loved that. Hardware is there and is the good stuff. I’ve been a repeat customer since 2017. I don’t really fault him to much for not sharing the specs on the lock on here. Forums are great for info but really an email trail would have been the most appropriate to get what I wanted. I figured it out myself and it’s been great ever since.

If you email us at support@kbvoodoo.com we will get you the specs that you want.

There is no way that we are going to post proprietary information on a forum, other companies copy from us every day, we certainly aren't going to make it easier for them.

LOL. Like I said. I figured it out without any very non special proprietary specs. Haha. I’m wondering if all your doing is not admitting to using a cheap lock that is used for indoor file cabinets. Below are pics of one of the locks that had less than 1 month of use before it failed. Also some of the measurements so that they can be easily replaced without any very non proprietary specs. What is used is a comp x lock. It says it right on the key.

Recently picked up the 18 inch alumax (58 inch on long bed) with the cargo max. Love it. Goes great with the retraxone xr.
