After following all the upgrades for a while I finally bit. Started with the subwoofer. There's always been mention of this replacement. No one took pics. Figured I'd share hoping it would help someone.

I'm keeping the factory amp. I'm only swapping the subwoofer and speakers. Hoping for better sound quality.

Any noticeable difference in sound? Did you add a different amp for the sub or is it still using the factory amp

Stock amp power that sub? I added a 12in to mine but had to add an amp.

So far it seems to be an improvement. But might be because the seat is off. Lol. Going to sound deaden the backwall and doors. So I guess I'll find out after everything is in. I spoke to a few people who did go for the swap and no one said it was pointless.

nice, i plan on doing something similar to my 2010, I picked up a factory box like yours to add to my truck with the OEM cover. I'll add a JL or Kicker Comp RT sub with an amp to run everything else. Im going to replace everything though. Be nice to hear your thoughts on how that box does with a real sub in it.

Its a shame upgrading the JBL line is so difficult. I've always gone the non JBL route and moved the equipment from truck to truck. (3rd one so far)

What speakers were you looking at using? I'm waiting to see reviews on the Audiofrog gs25 in the dash of someone with JBL.

Verdict. COVID makes your body ache.
    Hiding in bed.

Take the seats out. Don't have to remove the bottom. I'm skipping doing the floor.

Hang slider motor and pretend to be a ghost.

Tell dog he's a good boy and have snacks.

    Degrease and foam.

NOICO 80mil sheet cut in 1/3 fits most of the bottom.

Open cell A/C foam to seal vents. Just play around with it. I figured I'd would be best if they weren't just held open. Check between cab and bed.

Still going... 10/10 not recommend. Was planning on just the back wall. Audio friend talked me into doing more. Skipping the ceiling though.

Obnoxiously throw things out of the truck piece by piece to upset HOA people.

I can’t wait to hear opinion. I installed JVC z1000w on my jbl, I want to change sub and speakers but not sure if factory amp is enough to push it.

I think the factory box does pretty well if powered properly. Just pay attention to volume requirements when picking one out.

I think it will be find as well. I'll add some sound deadening to the box and when I decide on the sub, i plan to put 300-350 to it

Funny thing is the poodle headed bitch in the velour suit's name is legit Karen.

I have no idea what I meant by volume requirements. That was the Covid talking. Thanks!

The rear is a tiny speaker! It's like a legit 2.5" cum fart.

    Some progress.

Front and rear speakers are in. Sub is in. So far seems to sound better. Need to play with EQ and also finish putting things back together. A lot of noise is added from being apart.

Might as well swap these in. Removed the rest of the chrome left. Now going to try to sell these to the 60+ crowd. Old people love chrome.

Link got a haircut. I did an OK job during all of this. I get distracted way too easily.
