The time’s 5 AM, mind’s racing, symptomatic descriptions are matching one by one on a google checklist...you think you’re going to die, with a cold.

Or maybe your week is booked and can’t see the doc till another day, so you look up similar symptoms in the meanwhile. Have you ever self diagnosed yourself?
I think I may have pleurisy right now.

I have. What sucks is that so many things share a lot of the same symptoms.

Whatever you do, if you go to an ER......do not tell them you've been googling. We hate that shit.
The problem with the web and information, you can almost always find some shit you have.

We have people call all the time saying they read on the internet that a scorpion sting is deadly. That's true, but not in Alabama...…….we don't have poisonous scorpions here.

Symptoms are just that, symptoms. It's not a diagnoses.

I hate going to the doctor. Had my first physical in 7 years this year so yes alot of the time I will try to self diagnose.. But it's kind of like diagnosing a car when your not a trained mechanic.. A lot of symptoms can be alot of different things. I am lucky in that I don't get sick often.. I am also lucky that my sister is a RN so for the past many years I will run it by her if I have a quick question.. Most of the time she tells me to go see the DR.. You can't trust stuff online. But sometimes I don't trust doctors either.. That's why they call it a "practice" becuase they are practicing medicine.. sometimes I feel they are just as clueless as I am..However I respect their knowledge and education.. A good doctor is much like a good mechanic.. Hard to find one who really cares about what they do in my experience..

Ever self-diagnosed myself? Quite a bit, over the years, and was seldom wrong. I did have them confirmed before pursuing treatment, several surgical procedures came of the diagnoses.

Of course, I was a Registered Nurse for 35 years, specialized in the O.R.

A few times. When I got shingles, I looked it up and decided, yeah that's what I have. I went to the Docs and he said, yep you have shingles. Man did that suck.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Unfortunately, I've had enough basal cell skin cancers (14 or 15 now....I've lost count) that I know what one looks like if I spot one in between dermatologist appointments.

And I have a great doc who is pretty good about squeezing me in on short notice if I call and say I've got a concern.
