Greetings fellow Tacoma owners! I bought this 2007 PreRunner over the weekend and found a 2nd hand set of steps. After installing them I realized the rubber had too much sun and were very slippery, especially when wet. To give them some grip, I cleaned them well and used my sander to remove the top 1/16" surface. Then blew off the dust with leave blower. Then I used paper to make a template of the rubber step. I transferred the template to cardboard and used it on each step before applying the Rustoleum truck bed coating. I applied 2 coats and after drying the steps have nice grip!

Very nice! Let us know how it holds up over time. I put skateboard tape on my sliders. You don't want it to wrap over the sides any at all. It really grabs the ole leg hairs if you're wearing shorts.
