Ionizer suggestions not costing $399

Anyone tried this ionizer? Thinking about buying one. I use to have a Mr. Clean Car Wash System. It had ionizer cartridges inside the sprayer. You dialed for soap, then dialed for rinse and finally dialed for ionizer finish rinse. Discontinued and the replacement ionizer cartridges on eBay go for outrageous prices. It was cool and rinsed off water well, no having to chamey dry.

I know I’ll have to use this one sparingly as the tube isn’t very large.

I guess everyone laboriously shammies after a car wash final rinse. Hehe, suckers. Hey! Labor of love.

 

$400 is relative when it comes to DI water. Your link says a 2 pack is $58 and they say one unit does 20 gallons. The reality is how much is it really, some users won't make it to 20 gallons some will get a few more it all depends on how hard your water is. The CR spotless system for $400 says it does 300 gallons. But with that upfront cost, you still have the tanks and connection kit that has a meter on it to tell you when the water is no longer pure. CR's refill on Amazon is $65 that says it does 150 gallons. Do the math how you like but in the long run that comes out much cheaper.

Either way DI water is damn expensive unless you've got relatively low PPM water going in. For some people just a final rinse still ends up costing several dollars per wash because their input water is so hard. Search out DI and RV washing, there are some mods out there to maximize the resin but either way you'll still need a good refill source and the stuff isn't cheap. Running the final rinse through a pressure washer will help maximize your usage.

Or get some rinseless wash solution like Wolfgang Uber, mix up a detail spray dilution 2-3oz per gallon of distilled water. Good for a drying aid after a final rinse, will help the towel glide the solution will soften the water and it can dry on a panel in the sun and still wipe away cleanly.

 

A properly maintained vehicle takes about 5 minutes to dry with detail spray and microfiber drying towel.
