Hello, for sale is my 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, 4x4 DCLB (Double cab, long bed). It has been my baby for about 5 years now. 1 owner and this is my third Taco since I’ve been obsessed with them since I was a teenager. The go anywhere and do anything truck. It stands true, especially for this one. I have put approx. 115,000 miles on her since I bought her back in March of 2015. A vast majority of those miles (at least 50k) are pure highway miles as I am a military guy who has made many moves over the years. From Jacksonville (where the truck was bought) to Maryland, and now in Pensacola where I am stationed. It has also made a few trips back to my home state of Texas. A lot of highway miles, some towing but mostly just interstate. The truck has been maintained by me with a degree of understanding that when you wheel and off road your vehicle it will sustain some damages. Over the years, I have replaced hardly any parts except those that usually wear out. The truck has been exceptional and in my honest opinion, the best one I’ve owned. I am preparing for the next chapter in my life and setting myself up for Yota number 4. I don’t want to sell the truck, but I have to in order to make this progression forward.

Ok for maintenance, I have kept a written record of almost everything that’s ever been done to it. In the owner’s manual, last page, you’ll see every oil change, tire rotation, brake services and even lift kit install to new tires. I try to keep it updated constantly. Even what type of oil I use and the mileage at each service. Like I said I am not new to this and am an avid consumer of all things TacomaWorld.com. The online forum for owners of tacos old and new. It is the manual I have used to build and service my trucks from day 1 entirely by myself. (with exception of alignments lol, I don’t do those)

For mods and the reason I have priced the truck as such; I have a Rough Country 6” drop bracket lift on the front. Bilstein 5100’s and stock coils rolling on a set of 5, 35” Fierce Attitude MT tires made by Goodyear with about 50% tread left. These shoes wrap the 5, Stealth Custom Series (SCS) SR8’s in a size 17. There is a swing arm tire carrier made by BodyArmor4x4 that holds the spare fifth on the back of the truck. In the rear I have Sky Jacker leaf springs which by themselves suck, but their soft enough for a comfortable ride, so to toughen them up I added an Add-a-Leaf kit under those, helps maintain the height and rigidity of the leaf pack. I don’t remember the name of the AALs. Also, in the rear are Bilstein 6” over stock eye-to-eye shock absorbers. With the lift, tires, camper, and armor I am averaging about 13mpg. The running boards are also BodyArmor4x4 steps, bolted to the body. Not frame welds… but still very impressive strength. I have been happy with them. Not to mention they paired well with BodyArmor4x4’s steel front winch bumper (with a 12k Badlands winch with wireless remote), and steel rear clearance bumper. There are pod LED in the front bumper that point outward, having done the anytime fog lights mod, they can be turned on and off at the drivers’ control. Also, on the front bumper is a 30” LED bar for off roading and it is tied in with two more pods on the hood of the truck. Under the hood, is a cold air intake mod and that’s about it. Really haven’t done much under there except oil changes, brake bleeds, and new spark plugs. Oh, the custom grill and some amber LEDs wired in to turn on with the running lights. On the back of the truck, I have a Century Ultra camper shell, rubberized entirely on the inside. If it somehow evaded you, the entire truck, yes entire truck is Line-X’d from top to bottom, front to back. In late 2015 they came out with a form of line-x called line-x ultra. Intended for exterior use on off road vehicles. So, I had the truck done two tone and have been in love with it ever since. It can really take a beating and so no signs of wear from tree branches and gravel and such, plus it looks cool as shit. It has a lifetime warranty and does need to be touched up, but I do not have the time to do so currently. Inside the truck, there are a few signs of age, a scratch or two on the dash, and the wear spot on the steering wheel, my favorite spot to steer the ship if you will.

If you can’t tell from the elaborate story, I have a bit of a love affair with my truck and am sad to see it go, but hope someone like you reading this will enjoy it for many more years as I have. She has a lot of life left and many more adventures to go on.

How long have you had the 35” tires on?

EDIT: what was the odometer when you installed larger than stock tires?

 

I put the tires and lift on at about 8k miles. The truck was basically new at that time. It has had the stock gearing and running this set up the entire time. I have of course changed tires once, but I must say I get really good miles out of my tires a) having 5 of them in rotation and b) just some good ass tires. While towing 8k, I get about 7-10 mpg, depending on how fast ya wanna go.

 

I've gotten a few questions about the towing and mpg. Usually you'll get less mpg (about 13mpg) with such a lift and all the added weight, my truck weighs about 5,800lbs. For those that know, that's just a bit over stock lol. So while towing I averaged less than 10mpg and it was very very dependent on speed management.
For those with lifted tacos, you know that cruise control once lifted is no longer an option. You can re-gear for the only $3k it will cost! or just suck it up and learn how to drive engaged with the road, the hills, when to pass and when to relax. plus, you'll get a strong right calf muscle lol.
IMO this truck was never designed to tow, but it can do it well enough for most. It was meant to get dirty and go places no other full size vehicles can and that's just what it was built for, by me

 

How often are you towing 8k?

Do you have a brake controller and/or upgraded brakes?

Have you had the automatic transmission serviced/flushed or any valve body upgrades?

 

I do not have an extra brake controller but with the tow package it already manages trailer braking, its been good enough for me going up I95 and I10 a fair amount of times. Brakes are stock, I've replaced pads and done the rotors once at around 65k. I did the majority of my towing back in 2016-2018 when I was moving around alot in the military at that time. Haven't towed in... well a couple years, except the occasional trash trailer to the dump.
No, I have not and will not service the tranni and no valve upgrades.
