I just jacked the front end of my truck up and checked under the truck.. didn’t touch a damn thing? I set it back down, took it for a drive and now the abs and vsc lights are on.

I went through these steps and didn’t work.

How should I trouble shoot this ?

    sensor, then harness, fuse??

    truck is pissing me off

I did this in my 2010 TRD Off-Road 6MT (A-Trac and trans may be relevant?)

However only the ABS light flashed.

The slip indicator light stayed solid.

    Is this normal?

    Did it still work?

    It’s probably the wiring harness

if you have a volt meter you can test Continuity

No, they both have to blink simultaneously. Not sure on the variances in A-trac setup.

Did you get this fixed? I recently switched tires from KO2 to the Falken Wildpeak and I’m feeling my truck sweep to both sides..doesn’t feel right..going to get it Aligned to see if this fixes it

I have continuity in my jumper harness, same results when using just a bent wire vs a wire with a switch so no issues there.

Do you have any idea what you did that may have caused the VSC error?

if no, then check for continuity to each ABS sensor back to the main harness.

No codes that I can pull, however when my truck is on and running the slip light is on solid now.

I did this once before a few years ago and can't remember if both lights flashed or just one, I want to say just the ABS light flashed same as when I did it this time but the slip light steady on is new.

Only other relevant info I can provide is I did this while sitting in the truck with the door closed and the parking brake released.

Going to retry this morning when I have time with the door open out of the truck with the brake engaged to more closely mimic the conditions before I guess?

I'm not sure what you mean, I had no issues before doing the reset other than occasionally when entering the highway through a cloverleaf on ramp the slip system would kick in. (Flashing light, grinding ABS system, annoying beeping.) Finally got an alignment recently after all my front end work and wanted the VSC system to relearn it's state.

The ABS system is fine, no lights ABS is working and no issues beforehand.

If you did it correctly, which I assume you did/are, it (ABS/TRAC ECU) will not accept a new calibration if there is a diagnostic fault (I.e. open circuit in the system). Sometimes road debris can cut the harness or sensors fail. This is why I asked what you were doing when it came on.

Ok this makes sense. Worst case bribing a tech or finding someone with Techstream would cure what ails you

The light only came on when maintaining a moderate turn at speed, or when actually skidding like when applying a little too much power a little too soon when turning on a freshly wet road, uh, accidentally.

It was not on when I went to recalibrate the VSC.

As far as I am aware I have/had no faults. (Until trying to relearn the system.)

Hopefully I don't have to go that route.

I know my tires where /----\ pointed at each other direction of travel, my alignment was way out from off-roading then eyeballing it and having pretty severe toe in.

You can see how my nose is picked up and my front's have negative camber from this picture another member took coming into a meet up.

Surprisingly the VSC had no problems with that unless I was like I said before maintaining a moderate on ramp turn at speed, and more specifically when the road was at a small down grade/hill.

So I tried everything again only with the parking brake applied and outside the truck.

Again when doing the clear procedure only the ABS light would flash.

Shut off ignition, did not remove key this time, held my switch down (SPST NO) switch back to ON and it did the relearn procedure and this time both the slip and ABS lights flashed quickly instead of just the ABS.

Lights are off on my dash when running, everything seems to be normal again.

Still wish I knew why the slip light doesn't flash with the ABS for me when doing the clear step.

@6 gearT444E any ideas Mr. Electro Pixie Wrangle Master? (That is the technical term for someone whom holds a degree such as yours no?)

    So one more update!

Something definitely has changed significantly that I noticed on the drive home.

The rear drums seem to really be doing work now, the truck doesn't dive at all, brakes completely flat almost feels like the rear brakes are biting harder and before the fronts and releasing after, "dragging" almost trail braking like on a motorcycle if that makes sense.

This was frankly unexpected, but rather welcome so I guess irregardless of my prior shenanigans it definitely worked, really makes me wish I had done this many times and long long beforehand as Toyota recommends doing every time you play with the front end.

Heck now that I have a switch I may just do this at every oil change or something if it helps with daily driving and braking so much.

    YMMV.

Just make sure you go back to the same spot before flashing the memory. Yaw and pitch sensors are out to 1/100 degrees variance.
