My wife has a 2016 BMW G650GS. I got it out of winter storage this weekend and threw a charger on the battery. It took a charge and started but it was really weak.

I decided to pull the battery to see what size it was to maybe buy a new one but I quickly realized I couldn't see any liquid in it.

I pulled the red caps on top and looked inside and it was dry. I could see all the metal fins inside. I even turned it upside down and nothing came out. Not a single drop.

What are the chances I could get some new battery juice, fill it, and it would be fine?

Or should I just plan to buy a new one?

This is the battery and it is empty of fluid. There's like a tiny bit bubbling around in the bottom.

Ok, so a little Google-fu shows that just adding more acid is a bad idea. Sounds like I can try adding distilled water and see what happens, but most likely if it is dry it is shot.

I'll probably try it, but order a new one just in case. My options on new are severely limited due to size and the terminals are reversed from normal. Negative is on the left side.

Id just buy a new one. I wouldn't mess with any kind of vehicle battery unless you know what you are doing. Could cause much more damage than the price of a new one. Just my 2 cents.

You can toss some distilled water in there and see what happens, but I wouldn't rely on it. A lot of times crap will settle between the plates at the bottom and short out cells, which will lower the voltage and make a useless battery.

Have you checked batteries plus? I got my last moto battery there and was very please with it. Duracell, I think.

I might do that this weekend. Looks like they have one in stock and I can get 10% off.

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
    Scrap it. Its done.

I've got one that has been in storage for nearly 7 years. A voltmeter indicates 239 mV for charge.

I think its gone to battery heaven.
