I have an 02 Tacoma Prerunner with a class III hitch (5000lb tow rating).
I was looking at camper trailer options and came across the Gulfstream Visa 19ERD.
It says they have a weight of just under 3000 lbs empty.

Does anyone have any experience towing something like this?

Personally I think that's right at the limit. Dry weight becomes loaded weight real fast. Mine is a bit over 3400 loaded and that's all I want to pull with my 2011 4X4. At some point your going to have to stop that thing real fast that is a big consideration. Mine is rated 6500# and frankly that's nuts.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
You’ll hear all day” oh, you’ll be fine”. Definitely jump on Outdoorsy or RvShare.com and rent a similar trailer before buying. You’ll learn a lot and probably change your mind. Or you’ll buy a bigger truck.

Anytime someone has concerns what towing a trailer with their truck will be like they should rent a trailer of comparable weight for a few days and see what’s it’s like.

I did it for a couple years and All between the Rockies and FL. If you take your time you will get where you need to be.

I go up thru Crawford notch to VT I'm down to 2nd gear (6 spd manual) by the time I get to the top. It's equally as much fun coming back with a camper pushing you. A pre runner is a good bit lighter and more likely to be a white kunkle adventure.

If it's scary coming down the hitch and trailer brakes are not setup correctly.

Doing a load like this in the mountains without a properly setup WDH with sway control and a properly setup brake controller would insane.

Even a small trailer without brakes is a hand full going down hill on a 24% grade the stick shift helps. Maine in it's infinite wisdom allows trailers up to 3,000# not to have brakes. My camper even with it's small size (17') has twin axles both with brakes it is a extremely stable trailer. My controller allows me to manually control it. also.
