Howdy all Toyota detailing enthusiasts. So this is a good one, previous owner put brake cleaner on the door panels. Theres this white look to them in blotches (looks dirty), tried Armor All'd em and nothing. Acetone worked for getting some of the blotchy areas out but removes material.

Would anyone have any ideas on how how to restore door panels after such a stupid mistake?

Wow, never heard of doing that before.... I have no idea on how to go about that, but you could try joing this detailing group on Facebook and ask them. There's a lot of great people there and they may be able to help you.

Probably the best course of action would be to refinish the hard plastic with a paint designed for plastic parts. Check with your local auto body supply places to see if they have a match. If you’re lucky they might even have it in a spray can.

Thanks, people do that to the fender flares too. If you can take away a small amount of material from the damaged plastic maybe your left with new plastic. Ill try heat gun on part you cant see.

When I took the acetone to it the paper towel had gray all over it. That kinda helped. Oh why did I buy a truck from such an idiot.

Heat gun is not a permanent solution. In my experience you are going to end up with a blotchy mess over time.

Go camo. Mossy oak, etc. Blotches are part of the scheme.

Wow those are crazy builds. Hidden winch is killer.

Vinyl wrap is a great idea. Camo would be cool, I might not be able to find my way out of the truck.
I was going to find a vinyl graphic for a scratch in the hood. Desert camo might be really cool too.
