I tried to drip hydrogen peroxide in my ears and clean the drums out. Pinching nostrils and exhaling with mouth closed to pop my eardrums, I slept with earplugs in to hear maximum ring, and then later took em out to feel some sort of relief, tried pushing a qtip in there to slightly massage the drums but, as dangerous as it is I wanted to try anything. Tried hanging my head low beneath my body to send blood to my brain. The ringing comes and goes. I have low bass tone about 30hz or 40hrz bass tone usually. I used to have perfect hearing, woke up one day to ringing in my right ear, damnit. Im thankful that if i play music and shit the ringing goes away. I wish i had a system with subs loud enough to vibrate my ears to match that same tone im hearing to vibrate it once in a while. I keep thinking its magically going to go away one day.

I got high end to mid range hearing loss and tinnitus from the Air Force working in RADAR Shelters, other electronics shelters and around 400hz generators. The tinnitus used to come and go but now much more frequent. The worst part is not being able to hear a simple conversation or watch TV with any kind of background noise.

I have it. Years of timber cutting and no ear protection. Right side is way worse though, to many rounds over the shoulder.
I have found that metal detecting with headphones and a steady threshold tone actually made it better.

I just popped in here to say a few things.

It isn't always caused by hearing loss or traumatic noises. I haven't had any of those and have it. My audiologist has tested my hearing for a few years in a row and I don't show signs of loss and I still have the hearing of a 5 year old with the exception of a tiny drop around 8Khz

There are therapies that may work for you. I feel your pain and have some understanding of it. I don't have it that bad and I'm annoyed with it sometimes so I can only imagine how you all feel.

It may be worth trying CR therapy - essentially you identify the frequency/frequencies that you hear and the therapy is to listen to those generated to train your brain to respond less to them, effectively "ignoring" them.
    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-49945-w

I haven't had it myself, but have had it as a recommendation from my audiologist and have been reading about it for several years.

I believe its probably the nerves behind the drum are shrunk or enlarged in my opinion, i havent really researched much about it, i try not to think about it. The thing that helps me most is the easiest thing to do is nostril pinch and pop the drums once in a while. But it doesnt really help, its just an effect that i feel like i can hear silence for half a second. Also when the furnace, or air conditioner turns on its a big relief to drown it out. To all you service people out there, thank you everybody.

The quieter it is the louder it gets, except when the ringing seems to be attempting to drown out everything else.

Is anybody's Tinnitus progressive? Mine has been getting worse over the years and need continuous white noise when falling asleep. My doctor says there is no visible damage and there is no treatment or cure so I'm wondering if anyone can get permanent hearing loss from this being progressive.

Mine stopped progressing when I got out of the field and away from persistently loud noises. I have loss in 3 specific frequency ranges that match up with generators, tactical vehicles, and data center floor air handlers.

Allergies and constant ear infections as a kid didn't help.

The biggest problem I have is when the ringing frequency changes. Then it becomes extremely loud and it takes a few hours for my brain to get used to the new tone.

I've gotten so used to it that I don't even think about it anymore.

My left ear just said "check this new sound out". I don't like it.

I don't have it, but I have a heart pump that I can hear in my right ear 24/7. I just play a lot of music.

Hold up.. I thought I was just hearing electricity in the walls or something.. This is legitimate? If so I'll go back to the VA.

I do, was told its due to years of exposure to Trichloroethylene (an old industrial degreaser)

I have it, high frequency, sometimes don’t notice it much, other times it seems quite loud. I don’t know the frequency, Kenneth.

Interestingly, I yawned while reading this thread and noticed the tinnitus is louder when I open my jaw wide. Experimenting with different jaw positions I can change the amplitude (loudness) but not the frequency. It also appears that some exercise of the jaw might temporarily help lessen it for just a short while. I will have to experiment further.

Last 3 months has been torture. I "normally" go 2 weeks at a level of 20 out 10 as far as LOUDNESS. Then about 2 weeks of 3-5 out of 10 on quietness. Had a 8mm kidney stone blasted last Tuesday. Woke up and all I could hear was the ringing in my ears. All the narcotics they gave me set it off. I hate this shiat.

In saying all that, I need to get my hearing aids working again - they don't fair too well being washed...multiple times. :frusty: I had a "sound" mechanism as part of the aids that seemed to help with this stupid tinnitus. I hate this shiat.
