I have a Total Chaos +3.5 standard long travel kit with 8" coilovers. I'm only rear wheel drive too. I came across some 10" coilovers and was wondering how they would work on my long travel kit.

    ...too much shit to list.
Not without cutting out the coil bucket and doing a tube upper mount.

Hummm lol. I just thought of the ride height while I was typing this. I have my 8" set up for 50/50 up/down. The 10 roughly 2" taller collapsed I could work with, but being lifted another 3" to keep my 50/50 ratio wouldn't be good or keep it at the same height, but only have like 2" of compression would be terrible. Ride height. I forgot about ride height!

Whats the point? There are other limitations in the suspension that you’ll experience before you get anything else out of that kit by using a different shock.

Yeah I know the kit right now is limited by the coilover. When I take the coilover/straps/bumps out it can move more than the extended and collapsed of the 8" coilover. I was thinking I could get more out of it. The company had 10" ones on the shelf for $900 with compression adjusters the 8" would take them 6 weeks to build.

I'd wait until you're going to at least build an engine cage or cross over bar to upgrade to 10" co's - and build bypass mounts if you can just get some to get your hands on for mock up if you can't buy them at the time.

The kit is limited by the uniballs on the uca when it comes to droop travel. I’m not sure what the limiting factor is as far as bump travel. The kits come with 8” shocks, but don’t use the full 8” of shock travel.

Is it 4wd?? A full drop with 10” coilovers will destroy your cvs unless you have the super nice pricy ones

2wd - yeah I only imagine he might gain a little up travel but hard to say if it's more than just clearancing the inner fender would for 8" co's without knowing if the inner fender, shock, or something else limits up travel without the inner fender there.

I’ll post this one more time. Cv’s bind is not the limiting factor on total chaos 2nd and 3rd gen lt kits. That’s from personal experience and directly from Rob and Pats mouths at TC. The majority of the time you can have the misalignments seated against the uca uniball cup and the cv’s still won’t be binding. Their install instructions have you set kit based on uca uniballs unlike other kits which set straps just before cv bind

Remember thees kits are meant to be fully eficiente with 8” shocks, the only benefit i could imagine if theres any is running a shock with more oil capacity
