Picked up the new 12v 1/2” drive impact. In real world tests, it performs better than Milwaukee’s M12 stubby by about 10%. Has the same weight and size as the 20v 1/4” driver. I’m excited to use it.

12v :notsure: are they moving away from their 20v/max line? I thought the atomic line was their new hotness?

Picked up a 20v trimmer today, only $99 bare tool. I have a gas one but the carb has been finicky and wants to die when I hit the throttle too hard. Anyways, I’m a fan of electric for the size of my property. It’s a little less balanced than the gas due to the weight of the motor on the head of the trimmer but very bearable.

Also, this new 12v 1/2” has been amazing. Even tried it on a cv axle nut today, which are torqued to 173 ft lbs, and it took it off after about 7 seconds. I was wrenching with my mechanic buddy and he was really impressed, even may get one for himself.

The 1/2 Impact Wrench (DCF899P1) might be my favorite tool purchase in years. Got it last year to replace my rusted out bumper, got every bolt out without snapping one.

I got their self propelled mower the other day and I’m a fan. It comes with two 10ah 20v batteries which will be nice for chainsaw use on the trail. Finished my property and had over half a charge left on both batteries (it uses both at the same time).

Got this delivered the other day:

Powerful, quiet and frankly larger than I thought. VERY nice!

Can be plugged in or 20V.

Is that a Milwaukee battery? I suspect some traitorous brand infidelity.

    For size comparison.
    I'm nutty. 12V Milwaukee. 20V DeWalt.

I wouldn’t recommend any of those. Different brands monitor the battery packs differently. I know more about the Dewalt packs, but I’m guessing other brands do similar things in a different way. The Dewalt tools monitor the pack full string voltage and a couple split stack voltages to make sure the tool shuts down before ruining the pack. This is all done tool side. So if you run the Dewalt pack in a different brand tool, you likely aren’t getting the battery monitoring as intended.
