I’d like to know more about that. I know there used to be some trails up to a bald there but apparently they put tank traps in front of all the entrances?

They have blocked most of them. You used to be able to drive all the way up Caney Fork to the parkway but they've blocked that one. Here's a map I made of the fun ones. Note that the Moody Bridge area is private property so ride at your own risk. (Also not for stock trucks or solo riding. I don't even take my truck up there, I ride my bike up in there.) The others on the map are open FS roads.

Edit to add: You can get up to Old Bald still via Moses Creek Rd, but it's nothing challenging, just gravel. The turn-off up to the bald gets a little rougher, but all you really need is just enough clearance to clear the water breaks. You can't drive completely up to the bald, but almost. It's like a quarter-mile hike past a gate.

Yes, still haven't changed them sadly. The weekends aren't giving me any free time yet.

Anyone wanna throw in on a fluid film (I guess now also known as woolwax) 2 gallon kit and do some undercoating? Apparently it takes 1/2 to 3/4 a gallon per vehicle depending on how heavy you apply. Comes with the gun and 360 nozzle to spray inside the sealed frame. I have an air compressor.

Yeah I’m wanting to do this in the next month or so. Do a super scrub underneath and then coat the piss out of it. And sleep easier. 100 bucks every year or two vs rusted frame seems like a no brainer.

i agree with that. I went to fort fisher last weekend. Came home and scrubbed, took it to a car wash that washed the undercarriage. Then came home and rinsed a little more. Just paranoid is all. Been thinking about how I need to fluid film before the next trip.

I live on Cane Creek (runs right through the middle of my property) and there's definitely no vehicle trail this far up - must be further down towards Arden/Fletcher where things are wider?

Different Cane Creek. This one is in Sylva/Cullowhee.

Edit: They didn't get very creative with naming things 'round these parts. Lots of places with the same or similar names.

Guess it's a Southern thing. I grew up around Atlanta and there are what seems like 20 streets names Peachtree (street, road, industrial blvd, etc.).

They are either not creative or full on schizophrenic with street names like here in hickory. 26th st place NE ave CT which is no where near 26th st NE place ave.
