    Introducing the Taco Jerry

So I've had my Tacoma for several years and whenever I needed to carry extra gas or water it was always sliding around in the bed. I decided to solve this by designing a bracket that would mount to the bed rails to keep them from sliding around.

-THICK GAUGE BRUSHED ALUMINUM (won't rust)
    -ANIT THEFT FASTENERS
    -MADE IN VIRGINIA
    -OPTIONAL LOCKING/STRAP
    -OPTIONS FOR POWDER COATED

Note: I just finished a batch of 18 but plan to make more in the future.

    This was my original thought:

However tucked up underneath might be awesome for people too:

edit: I have basically the shortest bed rack (10” + 1.5”ish tonneau adapters) so there would be more room on a lot of peoples racks. The off-the-side thing may require some sort of spacer and angle to get it to clear the fender and not impede with the RTT when folded out. I’m happy to take any measurements and any pictures whenever you want if you were to try to design something like this. Sorry this reply took awhile, I’m finishing up law school.

Basically, I’m thinking if you can solve mounting in atypical places for Jerry cans, you might be able to cut into rotopax’s marketshare. Those rotopax don’t hold a whole lot, and are really expensive compared to even high end Jerry cans. I only usually see Jerry cans mounted vertical on swing outs, and vertical on back edge, on roof racks.

ok so your first picture really gives me a good idea. My current taco Jerry bracket could have some extra mounting holes put in the back that would fit the hole pattern on the bed rack. I’m going to attach a photo or two of them on their side. Bolt them on and have the cable lock feature added and I think they will work

I think it would need some sort of spacer bracket like KB Voodoo does with the max trax bracket to clear the fender. See link: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/traction-board-brackets
Also, I'd be concerned with the force applied to the open side, as the cans, when full, are heavy. Some sort or hinge on the existing design, or a new design with open top may work better. Just my two cents.

    This is Taco Porn!
All that fuel shortage that was happening can be solved next time if you carry extra Jerry Cans of gas in your bed. Anyone have any questions about the Taco Jerry? It's only $49.99

Hey Nick, my only reason for not buying one, is because I don’t have the space in my truck. the bed is full of all my pool cleaning stuff and pool chemicals.

crawl inside when it’s fully closed and measure from the bottom of the bed to the bed rail and make sure it doesn’t have a clamp or latch that will be in the way. Also while your back there snap a photo or two with your flash on and send that all to me in a private message. I’m sure we can get it figured out.

another option! Just had someone mount them to the back rail! This might actually work much better with your diamond back.

Love the idea and would buy one, but I don’t think I can have this and my soft topper mounted at the same time since they share the bed rail

I really like your product and think that it will solve my fuel and water storage issues. Is their anyway that other colors of powder coating could be offered?

yep I can powder coat most any normal colors. Just tell me what color you want and how many and I’ll talk to my powder coater.

that makes sense! The bracket might fit along the back of the bed with an extra 3rd rail back there.

@Sheepnick1 sorry to get off topic. My son just drove back to Lynchburg today and his windshield on his 4Runner got cracked on the way up. Do you know of a good and reliable shop to take it to?

    Thank you, Jeff

Metal prices finally got low enough that I could go back into production with some new updates! Introducing the Taco Jerry

So I've had my Tacoma for several years and whenever I needed to carry extra gas or water it was always sliding around in the bed. I decided to solve this by designing a bracket that would mount to the bed rails to keep them from sliding around. Fits 2nd and 3rd Gens.

    -THICK GAUGE STEEL
    -ANIT THEFT FASTENERS
    -MADE IN VIRGINIA
    -OPTIONAL LOCKING/STRAP
    -OPTIONS FOR POWDER COATED

Note: I just finished a batch of 25 but plan to make more in the future.
