Was using a CCM hockey duffle for a while and it worked pretty good.

Anyone have recommendations on a dedicated streamer rod for drift boat use? I have my eye on the Sage Ingiter 907-4. I heard it chucks a full sinking line expertly. It's also $1000.

Ya'll know of anything cheaper that does really well at bangin' the banks?

I don't have any "streamer" rod, at best I know people how put sinking leaders on their regular rod.

Yea, I have a 609 Helios 3D that does the trick just fine for medium streamers and a floating line. I'm looking for a new stick that'll throw a full sink line w/ 5 inch articulated streamers from 40-50 feet away.

I've been playing with a 1wt med-fast 6' rod at a small pond and having a blast with the bluegills, crappie, and bass. Even tied up some dries to mimic the flies they're feeding on. Haven't seen or caught anything of size, but it's still fun to me. I'm looking forward to playing on some bluelines for trout.

backpacked into the lost creek wilderness last weekend. hiked into the wigwam trail.

plan was to make it to the beaver ponds about 4 miles in. unfortunately, the trail was pretty snow covered about 2 miles. other hikers said there was snow up to their waist and they were post holing hard. saw some other fly fishers come back from the beaver ponds and they said it was still frozen over.

i did dip my line into the creek along the trail. looked like good holes but i didnt see any fish. the other guys didnt get anything either.

i gotta learn where these fish are and how to hook them

Lost creek is pretty high up on my list for this summer. I hear if you put the miles in there are some good fish back there.

North Catamount. The fish didn't understand they were supposed to play with the dog before swimming away. Sam was so disappointed on every release..

I did it the first 2 years, unfortunately everyone goes off on their own to try and achieve the catch 25 species.

They used to (Might still be taking place) have a carp one on the S. Platte through Denver that would of been better for spectating

Learning to Fly Fish- I highly recommend taking a class. Several places usually offer (Covid has changed things) free 1 days intro classes (Orvis, Bass Pro, etc), Fly Shops usually offer multi day for a Price.

I think I at 12 years instructing with CMC's Fly Fishing School (Cancelled last 2 years- COVID). We had 3 class room days and 3 on water days.

Reason why, stops some bad habits before they start. Get's you a complete look at fly fishing skills and usually a couple of fish under your belt but you have to keep going out consistently to maintain/ improve your skills.

how would you compare a class to a guided trip? i guess it would depend on the instructor/guide and questions I ask.

I've been thinking of doing a guided trip with my dad at some point this summer. We did a winter fly fishing class earlier this year and went down to Pueblo for it. That was very informative.

Guides tend to do everything for you (Fly selection, Tying Fly on, Tell you exactly where to cast, etc), Personally I have never hired a guide but I do just fish with a few. Just like anything I would think some are better Instructors than others.

I think just the Cost of a guide (Tip not included) costs as much as a school through a fly shop (with Guides are instructor's).

I have been in their shop before, I think they are good.

ArkAnglers is down south of there (Canyon City). I knew the owner through people in the club. I think his son has now taken over their shops (Salida is other location), but "Dad" was always in the store when I stopped by.

Michelle (Owner) at Tumbling Trout in Lake George is a wealth of knowledge, she clued me in to a bunch of public access on the Tarryall up there after I made a remark about crowding on tailwaters of 11 mile.

Might ask if you can hire a guide more for instruction than actually doing everything for you. I think the guides know who is good like this (Patience) being the main thing needed.

I have known owner of https://www.kens-anglers.com/ for a long time, I think he guides at Rainbow Falls which might not be to far for you, he has a hole gaggle of guides as well. Ken has been instructor for a long time at our school.
