I like this better! Easier and I'd use some cotton string. I always remove the coffee and throw it in some dirt and then burn the filter in the campfire. You could even make them big enough for a half pot, full pot, etc.

    Thanks for sharing.

Good ideas, cotton string would be better. And in a small pot or insulated large mug with a lid you could let it steep with the lid on to keep in the heat. I like my coffee hot!

I’ve never had Black Rifle but have three of their coffees on the way to try, Christmas gift from the wife. My daily drink is cheap medium roast Folgers but weekends I grind some of my favorite cofffee beans. Daughter sent me this a few years ago and it’s the best coffee I’ve ever had so bought some recently, 100% Kona from Hawaii:

    No moka pot?

Great taste! some clean up but not super nasty, uses any thermal source.

I do a lot of pour over, but coffee must be a good mellow bean. Brazil, lightly roasted works well.

AND I do Char bux Italian Roast Via instant, super sleazy lazy, zero clean up!

Camping to me means backpacking for days at a time. Jet boil and an aluminum cup. Starbucks instant works just fine. Usually anything warm is what I'm after.

My new favorite morning coffee, has the bite I need for mornings yet still is a nice medium roast (french/dark roast is for the cheap stuff imho burn any bean and they taste about the same lol). I buy whole bean and grind it fresh.

I do love me some coffee and have tried them all.

I have a VSSL Grinder (picked up off a kickstarter) and JetBoil for a quick good cup of joe.

I like trying various options to see what works but time to coffee is important and varies but have tried French Press when camping seems too much of a hassle and cleaning. I tend to use pour over mostly Quick and Easy and the flavor is always on point. Aeropress is a recent add. I tried one of those small portable espresso shot deals but things broke after the 1st or second use (it was a cheap knock-off one). I always pack some instant just in case I forget something or I am in a crunch.

Top coffee out of all that is Pour over with fresh ground beans.

Forgot another one I started doing was making some cold brew before a trip and having a couple of bottles ready now that I roll with a fridge.

For larger groups, the camp perf though is the hands-down winner. Too much work to do a ton of pour-overs.

    Some of the tools

VSSL - expensive but the sucker is top-notch - had a cheaper one but didn't do the coffee justice
Love this coffee cup for packing and camping
    I just use a generic plastic pour-over
Portable Espresso Maker - (couldn't find the cheap one I had but similar to this)
Aeropress - this is new for me but really digging the strong coffee it makes
    Ye ol Coleman Per
Sometimes ill use the french press with the jet boil.
Older Jetboil is used basically for coffee nowadays.

I use a Chemex. The big one at home/work. Little one outside. Hario hand grinder light and packable. Why change it up just because you’re outside?

For sure...I make sure to slip mine into a sleeping bag to give it plenty of padding during travel. Just cant forget it's in there when I set up camp. Just looked up the Pure Over...that thing is gorgeous! No filters, huh? Coffee tastes good, too?

I take raw coffee beans, roast them on the engine block, beat them to a pulp with my bare hands, stuff them in my sock, piss in it and filter as necessary.

Learned that from some British guy on TV.

The rear bed outlet so far has exclusively been used for running the burr mill that gets borrowed from the kitchen. Thermal carafe and basket borrowed from the Bonavita. From there it's boiled pot of water on the Coleman and pour over. Home sweet home wherever we go.
