I'm looking for a big cargo box to maximize my capacity for hauling things in a move. The biggest things I can find is that I see Thule has a 22 cubic foot model. However it doesn't really maximize the space or weight capacity of a Tacoma if you have a double cab and a camper shell and if you stretch the cargo box across both - it seems like you could handle a much larger cargo box than 22 cubic feet. Any other suggestions? Thanks

For how expensive the big boxes are, rent a trailer if moving is its only purpose. Big Thule boxes are $800+ and way less room then a rental Uhaul. Thats also if you could find 1. I sell Thule, and pretty much their entire catalog is on backorder.

Definitely agree, they're a limited use item, especially the large versions. Rent a trailer or even buy one of the cheap Harbor Freight Trailers, slap some extremely overpriced plywood on it and use that. Heck, even if you buy a utility trailer from Lowe's or some place like that you'll be able to sell it wherever you go if you decide you don't want it; even selling the trailer at a loss would be cheaper than buying a large cargo box you may not use again and that will be harder to flip.

You could build a box that would work well enough for your trip for less than what the large boxes cost as well.

Good luck with that as well. I have a part time lawn business and need a new enclosed. Can't get one currently
