I bought my truck used at a private dealer (1 previous owner) and the XM let’s me listen to all the available stations. I never agreed to any trial or anything.

Did the previous owner just never logout? I’m new to XM so I’m curious what the situation most likely is?

I had XM in my vehicle for a 5,000-mile road trip. First two weeks "This is great" after that it drove us crazy as everything was repeated.

I like Austin, TX radio stations for their variety of everything. Sun Radio was started by the old KGSR station and would do everything from upcoming to older classics, with lots of variety. I had hoped for the same with XM. After two weeks, killed it and we did listen to a podcast. "Darknet Dairies" is good.

I can see that becoming annoying, I’m about 2 weeks in but don’t drive enough to get repeats. My local stations are not big on my favorite genre (90’s alternative) so the XM has been nice for that.

My XM experience was truly terrible. Dead zones and glitches. They blamed the head which is bull because the receiver is separated but regardless I had the head replaced on warranty. No change, then we replaced the antenna, then the XM. Then six months of free service. Then I threw out the XM receiver so I didn’t have to see the icon on the screen to remind me of the terrible customer service. When we bought my wife’s Toyota I had the dealer disconnect the XM receiver and scrape the logo off the window before I would take delivery. He told me I was not the first to make that request.

I recommend using your favorite streaming service.

I worked at a junkyard for a number of years, when crashed cars would come in, many of them had XM radio tuners (this was before the time when XM was built into the radio, so you needed a external XM module)

We would take the tuners out and put them in our yard trucks, they would usually work for a few months till the owner got a new one, or cancelled their subscription.

So, just enjoy it while its there, but never buy it unless you like to listen to the same thing on repeat over and over. Sports what the only decent thing on XM.
