It'll take you 5 minutes the first time you do it to figure out wtf you're greasing, after that, less than 2 minutes if you have latex gloves so you dont need to wash your hands. Quick and easy and no squeaks ever

I just had my whole clutch pedal assembly replaced today. This is due to TSB Toyota has out. Mine went away during colder months and came back this month. Finally! It was annoying!

On mine they replaced the entire clutch pedal assembly. There is a Service Bulletin on this issue. But it’s not a recall….yet

Had this replaced 2 times. Hot humid weather (after a cold Winter?) is what started the noise both times.

We seem to have some variance. Some get noises in the cold and others in the heat.

You are on track there though as nylon does absorb moisture from the air and can change dimensionally because of it.

I have had a bunch of bad experience with nylon parts in manufacturing. Storing parts with wet sponges in sealed bags, running batches of parts in environmental chambers with high heat/humidity to make them less brittle. Poor choice for a clutch pedal assembly that will be cycled 200,000/yr for how long? This number of cycles is something I never though about. This assembly should be designed to be trouble free for millions of cycles. Clearly it is not.

FJ Cruiser clutch pedal assembly? Annual grease ritual? Back to dealer every 11 months for no cost replacement?

I wonder what a regional service manager will do upon my 3rd failure?

    So, you are familiar!

We're waiting on the third person to do the FJ swap to hear about the actual install and setup experience. The second person used a shop, and they said it dropped in with no issue. We're all sitting back as the very first person said that cutting and welding was need. We need the tiebreaker.

It may have been test cycled, but like that one setup they used to have at Ikea, it probably didn't represent reality of folks loading it in different ways. Sometimes at an angle and such.

Dang. The foot well could be different on the 2nd Gens. But, the latest TSB applies to all from 2005 and up. That is a bit silly from a warranty standpoint, but . . .

my 2020 squeak like crazy with just 9k. I mentioned the squeak during the first service but was not addressed. Now I know there is a TSB for this crap, definitely will have this look at.

the remedy might be worse than the squeak… I’ve read some comments that clutch feel is different, or height of new clutch is different… make sure you are ok if things change after “fix”.. my case: I lube it around once a month..

I had this TSB done and everything is fine. Creaking is gone and clutch feels the same as before the TSB. Guess

I had the tsb performed on my 19 Tacoma under warranty yesterday. Took a week to get the parts and a few hours for the install. No more squeaky when it’s hot out. Clutch feels the same.

I just started hearing the creaking and some side to side play in my '21 TRD OR's clutch pedal. Got quiet during cooler mornings, but it gets really annoying during the heat of the day. Kids in the back seat noticed it before I did. :/
Guess it's time to head back to the dealership.
