Stolen 2015 black tacoma update: found

any info on how they could have stole it? dont these 3rd gen have the toyota theft crap on them, or is my blinking light literally just a blinking light? looks like you had a lot of $$ into it, next time install one of these

Yeah, pretty sure you need special coverage through your insurance for aftermarket parts...

OP, if you have a reddit account, post this up in the r/bayarea subreddit. some people have had luck with that.

 

the more I hear really gets me. around here they are stealing work trucks but all around I hear other stuff like this. I should start parking and blocking my driveway so they cant drive off.

Good thing you got it back but did the insurance salvage the truck?. Weird they didnt take the long travel kit and other high value parts.

 

They took all my lights. Good time to get my bumper recoated since I got a cheap job done originally. They took all my electronics and everything else in my truck. They cut off my awning and cut open my tepui cover. Took all my velcro patches on the ceiling as well.

 

Bummer.

GPS trackers are cheap!

$120 for the unit and only $20 per year. Thats right Twenty dollars for the whole 12 months. You do have to wire them in to 12v. They have a small battery as well.

Sounds like you made out pretty well all things considered. Didn't lose your kings or LCAs. Don't leave shit in your trucks and don't buy external lights you aren't willing to lose fellas

so how did they take it? did u leave the keys in the car? very interested to know how it was opened, and turned on.

 

I'm not sure, but my money is on it just being dragged/towed into a car hauler. Likely was never opened/driven.

I saw this post. I'm sorry to hear that your truck was stolen. It looks like they stole the grill, custom bumper, & lights on the front end of your truck. You're lucky that you have the rest of the truck back in mostly one piece. I hope that your insurance covers the missing parts and that you still have your receipts for the aftermarket parts installed on your truck. Being a victim of a smashed in shell window/theft & break in/theft done to my truck in San Francisco, I feel your pain.
